Ricky came to my house just a few minutes later. He wore a gray undershirt and dark jeans with black boots. His outfit wasn't great but it really doesn't matter because his exposed biceps made my knees feel weak. "hey, come in, i have to finish getting dressed then I have to pick up a friend" I said to Ricky. He walked in and closed the door behind him. "who is it?" he asked frowning. "I don't know if you know her. Her name is Sam. She's a sophomore dance major." I said. Ricky shook his head. I guess he didn't know her. "okay, well, I'll be down in a few. Snack on something and get a drink if you want." I smiled and ran upstairs to my room. Hmmm.. It had been so long since I've been to a party. What should I wear? After long debilitating minutes, I finally found an outfit. I threw on a cheetah print halter top with a black mini skirt and metallic heels. My feet were in so much pain from starting to dance again, the relationship between my feet and the heels wasn't gonna last very long. I left my hair out in it's natural chocolate colored waves. After putting on my earrings and make up, I grabbed my purse and headed downstairs. Ricky stopped in the middle of reaching his hand into a bag of Doritos when he saw me. He smiled and said "you look beautiful. I guess I should've dressed better.". I laughed when I faced him and traced his arm. "you look fine to me, baby" I said. He laughed and kissed my forehead.

We finally got to Sam's house. She came out onto her driveway in a metallic minidress with red heels. "hey,Jane" she said as she jumped in the backseat of my old beat up Ford Taurus. "hey, what's up" I replied. "this is Ricky and Ricky this is Sam." I said. Ricky turned to face her and gave a slight smile. Sam didn't say anything. I could see in my rearview mirror the puzzled look on her face. "is he coming?" she said. "yep" I replied. She still looked confused. "I haven't seen you around much, we don't even have lunch together anymore." she said. "yeah, I know.. Things have been getting busy..." I said. Sam went on to talk about the latest school gossip. She was always my news informer. It was like she knew everything about everyone. Was there something she knew about Ricky that I didn't? Everyone knew he basically beat up a guy named Jackson from our school so bad, he's still in a coma. He didn't get in that much trouble though because it was self defense. Jackson and his click ganged up on Ricky. But then Ricky started fighting back and Jacksons friends ran away and left him. That was all i knew about Ricky, but i still didnt understand why Sam gave him that look. Sam interrupted my thoughts as usual. "so, like Eric walks into the band room and he sees mike in the corner of the room getting head from guess who.." she said. Before I could say I don't know, who, she bursted out saying "Heather! Like oh my gosh, that's Eric's girlfriend and they are always kissing in the hallway, i feel so bad for him. Can you imagine how disgusted he felt. I mean, like, OH MY GOSH, He's been kissing that!" she said a little bit too excited. I felt bad for Ricky, he probably wasnt used a to all this talking. He was quiet the entire time.

We finally reached Carly's house. It looked like a rave was happening inside. Oh goodie. Ricky's phone rang. He answered it and started talking in a different language i thought was french. Sam was about to jump out of the car when I turned to face her. "Sam...please be careful and DON'T drink anything from anyone." she nodded and jumped out. Every time Carly had a party, most of the girls got their drinks spiked and end up sleeping with some random guy. I didn't want that happening to Sam. She was like a little sister to me sometimes. I turned to Ricky when he hung up the phone. He looked upset. "hey, is everything okay?" I asked. He nodded "let's get this over with" he said. We walked into Carly's huge 8 bedroom house that seemingly transformed into a nightclub. We walked through the crowd and guys eyes shifted from whomever they were talking to, to me. There were so much people that I had to hold Ricky's hand as we walked through. we finally made it outback onto Carly's balcony overlooking the beach. "wow" I said. "there is so much.." I said before getting interrupted by Carly who walked up to Ricky and traced her fingers along his exposed biceps. "sooooo glad you could make it hon" she said only talking to Ricky. He looked away and didn't say anything. "it's about time you found your outgoing side. I always knew you had it in you, baby" she said. I could feel heat coming over me but looked away as she flirted and touched him. She wouldn't leave him alone, so I came up with something quickly. "oh, I forgot my cell phone in my car an I don't want to go outside alone" I said looking up at Ricky and coming closer to him. "oh.. Yeah, let's go" he said enthusiastically. "no, stay," she said seductively pulling Ricky's hand. "sorry" he said pulling away. Carly growled and stomped away. I turned to Ricky and said "I really didn't forget my phone, I just wanted to get away from her.". He smiled "I know, I remember seeing you put it in your purse" he said. "come on" I said and took Ricky's hand. I led him down the stairs of the balcony and onto the beach behind Carly's house. There was a campfire set up. We sat on the beach. Ricky looked up to the sky then started taking off his shirt. "what are you doing?" I asked. He spread his shirt behind us so we could put our heads on it. He looked so good shirtless. His body was perfect. He held me in his arms and gently laid me down and made sure the sand didnt get in my hair. He then laid down. "you good?" he asked. "yeah, thanks" I smiled. "look at that star" he said pointing to a tiny star in the middle of a family of big ones. "it's so cute and small" I said and giggled. "yeah, but just as beautiful" he said and smiled. His teeth were perfectly aligned and glistened in the light. He came over me and moved a strand of hair from my face. I looked away, I had to not give in and be strong but this was going to be hard. "do you see the moon?" I said pointing to the full moon. "yes, i do" he said still staring at me. "no you don't, you aren't even looking" I said. "I can see it in your eyes" he said and smiled. I blushed. "how does that song go again?" he asked and curved his mouth as he tried to remember. The he leaned down to my chest and started to sing a very familiar tune. "when the moon hits your eye.." he sang as his lips traced over my neck and chin. "Like a big pizza pie.." he sang then whispered the rest over my lips. "it's amoré" he then kissed my lips. I kissed back and held his arm as he held mine. My other hand went on his back and felt the scars. We kissed for a while then Ricky let go and laid back down. I rested my head on his chest and felt his abs. "Ricky, why won't you let me help you?" I asked. "with what? You've helped me enough" he said. "you and your dad. Abuse isn't right and should be stopped." I said furiously. "Any person that hurts someone younger or smaller than them is a coward". Ricky sighed then said "I don't want my father to know you and I don't want you to know him. He could hurt you and I can't let that happen.". "but forget about what could happen to me, what about you? When will it stop?" I asked. Ricky played with my hair. "Jane, i understand you want to stop everything bad in the world and save everyone, but you just cant" he said the last word harshly. I turned away from him so my back faced him. I was upset that he was just gonna let this happen to him. After about 15 minutes of laying down, I got up and dusted off my clothes. "I'm gonna go check on Sam" I said and walked away. He didn't follow.
