Mia's pov
I've been in the library for over an hour now, I guess Cole wasn't gonna come anyways. I already did half the work we were supposed to be doing today.
I spoke too soon when I said he wasn't like those who left the entire work for me.
I was still busy looking through these huge history text books when I heard the screeching of a chair right beside me, I looked up and saw Cole looking apologetically at me.
"I'm so sorry I'm late, I lost track of time". He said smiling remorsefully.
For some weird reason, I believed him Immediately. His eyes just showed remorse and its not like I could reprimand him or anything.
" its fine, really. If it makes you feel better, I haven't finished the work yet so you can join me ". I said trying to make him feel better.
Trust you to make someone feel better by giving them work to do. You are so pathetic.
My subconscious tormented. I've always tried to block out their words but that has always proved to be difficult.
Before I could retrieve my words, Cole already sat down and took a book from the desk, looking through it while looking through the ones I've written.
He didn't look angry or annoyed and for that I was glad. I never liked angering people because I always thought they had the same reaction as Ryan.
After an hour more of researching for this stupid project, it was already six thirty. I yawned tiredly as i looked around the library seeing as it was almost empty.
" Do you wanna have dinner with me and my friends, my treat". His words brought my eyes to him so fast I saw little stars above my eyes.
"What". I asked dumbly
" I said would you like to have dinner with my friends and I?"
I was surprised because no one has ever cared to invite me for a meal, who would, when I didn't even have friends.
"No yo-you don't need to, I'm good, really". I said not wanting to be a burden. I hate being a burden. Ryan always reminds me how much of a burden I am to him and my family.
" No please, OK, consider it my way of saying thanks for doing half the work before I got here". Before I could refuse, he added, "I'm not taking no for an answer".
What harm could it cause, maybe now I could have friends at least, the thought of having friends always seems like a bad idea for me but right now the thought excites me.
Moreover, Ryan must definitely be in the house by now, drunk and probably passed out. I still had some time before I was supposed to go home anyways so why not.
I hope this doesn't backfire though.
Cole must have known I was considering the idea because he has a knowing smile on his face. " You know you want to".
I laughed. "OK fine, but I have to be back before 8pm."
"No problem, come on they're waiting".
We got up and went out of the library, it was getting dark, we could see the sun setting at a distance.
I've always loved the sunset, my dad and I usually watch the sunset together and shared funny stories before his death. I was always closer to my dad than my mum. I always felt like I had more connection with my dad.
" Come on, let's go". His words brought me out of my thoughts as he led us to a shiny Audi A8. It looked new
"Nice Audi". I complimented as we got into the cozy inside. It was beautiful
