In the west laid the United People's Republic. It was a wealthy and pacifist country. The country's laws were mostly fair. The crime rates were also low. There was equality between all the sub genders. Of course, there were still people that believed in the superiority of alphas. Much like the superiority of men over women. But those people never caused major problems. For the most part, it was a good place to be.
However, the fall of the Serene Republic impacted the country. Many people fled from the falling country and most fled to the United People's Republic. The influx of refugees and pleas for asylum overwhelmed the government. But the country chose to help them as best as they could.
The Selfless Acts Organization was formed by the wealthy people of the country. This was a means to help the refugees. They organized charity events and food drives. The organization helped build temporary shelters for the refugees. They also offered legal assistance. It was within these events, held by the organization, that Lee Minho, the future heir to the Lee Estate, met Park Seonghwa, the future heir to the Park Enterprise.
The two had been sixteen then. In the beginning, they both had simply waved at each other during the events. Eventually, they got to talking to each other. It was awkward at first but slowly they worked through it and became close. They became so close that their parents wanted to arrange a marriage between the two. They both declined, hoping to only keep each other as friends. Which then leads them to have conversations with their parents on how it's okay for an alpha to like another alpha and boys can like boys. These moments made them laugh when they were together. They liked each other sure, but it was very much platonic.

When they were eighteen, Seonghwa's parents adopted a boy. The boy had been a refugee from the Serene Republic. He was a seventeen year old alpha. Their arrival caused a heated conversation between the Parks. Subsequently, it caused Seonghwa to leave his home and stay with Minho.
"Would you like to talk about it?" The younger alpha had asked.
"I don't know. I mean I probably should," Seonghwa replied after a moment.
"Okay, then talk. Why did you leave your home? You're not like this," Minho questioned.
"I'm upset. And don't interrupt me it's not about the boy," Seonghwa starts. "I'm upset because they have been working on the adoption papers for two years. Two years. And they didn't bother to tell me anything."
"For two years?" Minho inquires.
"Yes, two years," Seonghwa says. "I don't have an issue with them adopting someone. I always wanted younger siblings. But I'm upset they didn't say anything. I got even more so upset when I asked them why they didn't. They said didn't tell me because didn't want me to disagree with them adopting a refugee."
"Okay, now that's messed up on your parents' part," the younger cuts in. "Like either of us would have something against the refugees. We've been around them the past two years. They're people just like us."
"Exactly what I told them. I've talked to many refugees and I've volunteered to help them countless times. I wouldn't have protested. I'm still not protesting. I don't like how they thought low of me," the older goes on, sounding sad towards the end.
