School. Many teenagers get shivers when thinking about it. The pressure, the stress, the teachers, the other teenagers, grades, future, etc.. It is a lot for a young person to handle, considering the fact that it is already hard enough to grow up and go through all these different stages like puberty. Some kids are lucky enough to actually enjoy going to school; either because they are popular or because they really are interested in the things school teaches us.
Merinda was always somewhere in between. Luckily she had a lot of good friends, good teachers and some subjects were actually quite compelling. With her best friend Jacelyn on her side she made it through all the years until things changed incalculably after the Sophomore Year. Everything got mixed up which caused Merinda to not be able to see her friends as often as before since they were in seperate classes. Nevertheless she somehow made it through her Junior Year although she had to fight depression and was constantly under pressure since her teachers did not seem to like her a lot. For that reason she knew she had to make a change or she will not be able to survive much longer.(Merinda's POV)
Today is the day. Finally. It is my last day of school. After my mother has reached in the resignation for me so that I could leave school on October 29th the day has come. Although many people berated me and tried to stop me from quitting school I have enough courage now to start a new chapter of my life. A few days ago I had the pleasant interview at the sports store Tienkamp which got me my first job with which I can start next week on Tuesday. Of course there is a lot of nervousness connected with this new situation I am really happy to start over.
4 days later
My last day of school was the best day of my life and until today I did not regret my decision for a second. Currently I am on my way to my new job, my mum who is very supportive is driving me there. I could not really sleep at night since I was too exicted and tense at the same moment. Here we go.
The first thing I noticed was how everybody here is really nice and greeting each other, all of them are smiling more or less the whole time. Besides me there were three more people starting their new job with me that day. As I came into the room where we were supposed to meet I got to meet Simone, a 27-year-old Italian guy, Yalda, a 16-year-old student and Sam, a 32-year-old teacher in training. All of them are really nice, especially Sam, as he appears to be a very nice and open minded person who greeted me with a super friendly "Hi! How are you doing? It's really nice to meet you, I'm Sam and I suppose we are colleagues from today on.", a big smile showing all over his face the whole time. We talked a little bit more until Alphie, our teamleader, arrived to the room and showed us around.
My first few weeks were really awesome, since I got along with most of my collegues rapidly and even found a new friend in Sam. As is turned out the blonde, blue-eyed and athletic man and I have a very similar sense of humour which is showing a little bit more every time we have a shift together, since we can not stop laughing. Working with him really helped me to get over the breakup with my long-distance boyfriend Jabaad who constantly ghosted me and would always take me for granted. Altough I am definitely not physically attracted to Sam, I like to imagine that he is completely diffrent from the rest and how lucky his future wife is going to be. I sincerely hope that one day I will fall in love with a man just like him, and not another unfaithful person like Jabaad.I hope you enjoyed this first part of the story :)
