Nina's POV
I walk out of class and see the boy standing across the hall waiting for me. "You could've just told me your deaf and I would have spoken to your face so you could lipread me." He says with a big smile. I give a faint smile and stand there awkwardly. "Yeah, I know... didn't want you to pity me or anything." I say and sign at the same time. He gives me a confused look "Why would I pity you for being deaf? My niece is deaf as well and she's just so proud of it." He says and I feel the weight lifted of my shoulders. "Oh cool! Does she go here to?" I ask hoping there was another deaf person in this damn school so I wouldn't feel so left out. "Nope she goes to Gallaudet." I nod "Well that's nice for her. I'm sorry but I have to go to the library now..." I smile a little and get ready to walk away.
"Hold on! Let me put my number in your phone so if you ever would want to hang out you can just text me.. Oh I'm Hero by the way, it's my second year here so if you have any questions don't hesitate to text me or anything." He smiles and I hand him my phone to put my number in it. "My name is Nina" I smile and show him my sign name and he repeats it. "Cool! See ya later Nina." He says and I head to the library.
Hero's POV
I watch Nina heading to the library and I smile to myself.. She seems like a nice person to hang out with. I head to the nearest coffee shop and get myself some plain black coffee and then go to my dorm room. Thank god there's still no one there to be my roommate, I kinda like the privacy you know.
I read the first few chapters of the assigned book from literature and get drawn into it, so I end up reading the first 15 chapters instead of the first 8 that we had to read. I make some notes as well and then head to my second class of the day... English .
while getting in class I greet my teacher and take a seat to my mate Kyle and chat with him almost all class till the teacher tells us to shut up or leave. We both keep quiet since then and take notes... dedicated school kid I know.
As class finished I head to my dorm and spend the rest of the afternoon there, and then head to the pub in the evening for drinks with my mates.
Nina's POV
I head to the library and just sat there reading the book from literature for a while. After I finish the given chapters I write a little summary of all the chapters I read. When I'm done I head to my next subject which is Didactics. This subject basically teaches you how you can behave and manage your class as a teacher. I sit down and greet my interpreter for the second time today and have a little chat with her before the class starts. "Are you interpreting every class and every day?" I sign to her and she nods "Yeah they basically hired me for the whole day and I have gotten your timetable to see which classes you follow.. But you told me you didn't ask for an interpreter, what's the deal with that?" She asks in a nice way. "Well I have been to deaf schools all my life so I felt quite comfortable there, but I wanted to follow classes without an interpreter first to not stand out from the rest." I say and see everyone coming in and watching us two signing. "Ah okay, I do understand but you know it's gonna save you a whole lot of energy with me here, and fuck them if they think anything less of you." She gives me a wink and the teacher starts with class. I take notes and watch Sarah (the interpreter) closely till class ends.
As soon as class ends I thank Sarah and head to my dorm room only to see Lola kissing a guy on her bed. She looks at me with a blush and starts talking way too fast for me and I laugh. "Lola, you're going way too fast! Please slow down." Her eyes widen and I see her say sorry several times. "It's okay, aren't you gonna introduce me to this guy?" I smirk and she introduces me to Kyle. "Why don't we go to the pub? I have some mates being there tonight and it would be a good start to your college experience." He laughs and I shrug "Sure, why not? Let me change and then we'll go." I say and Kyle waits for us outside so I can change.
