Arianna.

The wound on my back oozed with blood, as I lay sprawled out on the ground, The Legion standing over me, chuckling to himself like he had done the funniest thing known to man. I forced myself to flip over to face him, trying to crawl backwards away from him. The smiling masked man, squatted down in front of me, twirling his knife between his fingers. I could make out a neck tattoo from the dim lighting. Blood was stained and splatted on his clothes, the fresh splatter coming from my body.
For a moment I thought about screaming for help but realized nobody could help me. There was no police to call and we had no way of harming a higher being that controlled these psychos. The thought of praying crossed my mind for a moment, if something as crazy as this was real, god could be real too. However, that idea vanished as quickly as it came. The feeling of hopelessness washed over me. There was nothing I could do now besides accept the fate that was coming to me.
Finally the masked man spoke. "You seem pretty upset down on the floor."
"You would too." I replied quietly, holding back the curses I wanted to scream and shout at him as well as the tears that wanted to form. "You don't have to do this. You could just let us do what we need to do and leave."
The man laughed loudly, grabbing under my arms suddenly. "Here, I'll get you off the ground."
Faster than I could process, I was flipped up onto his shoulder. His hand held my ass as he straightened up, turning towards another hallway. I tried to wiggle from his arms but he kept a firm grip on me, walking slowly down the hall. I scanned the area for any way to escape but all I could do was let some tears fall from the pain of my gushing back and the fear of what was going to happen to me once we reached our destination.
"Is that crying I hear?" The man questioned, a bit of amusement in his voice.
I sniffled, trying to keep a serious face even though I knew he couldn't see it. "No. You must be stupid."
The mans hand slid up my back and to my wound, pushing his fingers into it, causing me to cry out in pain. "I'd watch your mouth and how you speak to me."
More tears flooded from my eyes. "Okay okay, I'm sorry you asshole. Kindly fucking stop it, please."
The man chuckled and came to a halt, throwing me back over his shoulder, holding me up by under my arms. He stared at me for a moment and let me hang there, silence besides my sniffling, filled the room. The man let out a long sigh, glancing over his shoulder and back at me as he finally seemed to make a decision on what he was going to say.
"I'm sorry but this is going to hurt... a lot more than what I just did." He lifted me up higher, a sudden wave of pain filling my shoulder as a hook was stabbed through me, coming out of underneath my collarbone. He let go as I screamed in pain, cursing over and over again, trying not to pass out completely from the feeling. The man took a few steps back, staring at me for a moment before, walking back towards me and lifting a hand to my face. His thumb wiped away a few tears before he turned around and sprinted from the room, leaving me there screaming.
"Arianna, it's me."
I slowly moved my head towards the sound of my name to see Cat standing behind a broken window, slowly crawling over it and towards me. A rush of relief came over me, someone was gonna get this fucking hook out of my back. Cat grabbed me and lifted me off the hook, bringing me to the ground. She ushered me out of the room and down a few halls before she found a spot behind a hospital bed, crouching down.
"Hold still, I'll see what we can do about all of this." Cat whispered, pulling out a first aid kit of her backpack.
I closed my eyes as she stitched up all the cuts and wounds covering my back. We sat in silence together as she intently worked away, doing her best not to hurt me more than I was already hurting. After a few minutes she stopped, putting her things away in her bag and looking at me with a sigh.
"Nickole is working on her fourth generator right now. I left her to come get you. She's shockingly amazing at them." Cat glanced around before she continued. "Where's Jasper?"
I shook my head. "I left her when we were being chased. She was in a locker when I saw her last."
Cat sighed and put her head in her hands. "We can't leave anyone behind. Hopefully she's back on a generator so we can get the hell-"
Interrupting Cat, the noise of the front gates rang through the halls, causing Cat and I to jump to our feet. Without a second hesitation we began to run towards the noise, turning sharp corners and attempting not to trip on anything on our way. We turned towards the entrance to the hospital, our eyes landing on Jasper, who was holding down a switch at the gate. She glanced over her shoulder at us with a soft and relieved smile. We returned the smile before glancing around, all three of us realizing we were missing Nickole. Jasper stepped towards us after the gates begin to open.
"Where is Nickole?" She asked, staring at Cat intently.
Cat shook her head. "She was at a generator when I saw her last... but I left her to get Arianna."
Jasper sighed and looked back into the hospital behind us, her eyes darting around. Then, a terrifying shriek filled the air, causing us all to freeze up in place. Nickole must've been caught. I looked at Jasper and Cat who both seemed equally terrified.
"I will go get her." Jasper murmured.
Cat and I stared at her in shock.
"You wanna go back in there?" Cat gasped.
Jasper nodded. "Someone has to, and I think I can do it."
Cat looked at me nervously. I just nodded in response, Cat looking back at Jasper with a nod. Jasper sighed and ran past us, following Nickole's screams deep within the hospital. The silence was deafening, the two of us sitting there with anticipation.
Cat cleared her throat nervously, breaking the silence. "What happens if she doesn't get her?"
I let her question hang in the air as I processed it. How could I know? There was no way that the two of us would be able to get both of them in time before we had to leave this place.
"We will leave." I answered quietly.
Cat looked at me in shock, before slowly nodding. "I guess we need to escape soon if we want to live."
I sighed. "What good will it be if we all die? We need to live and escape this place for them."
We went back into a silence, staring intently into the hospital. Both of us wanted Jasper and Nickole to make it out, but neither of us knew if they'd be able to do it. The minutes felt like hours, our eyes darting from the exit to the hospital.
"We can't wait for them much longer." Cat stated.
"I know. Just a few more minutes."
"Waiting for us?"
Jasper and Nickole emerged from around the doorway of the hospital with a big smile of victory. Cat squeaked in excitement, a smile forming across my face. Jaspers smile didn't last long, she grabbed Nickole's arm and signalled for us to get out.
"The legion is coming, he already checked the other door and now he knows Nickole is down from the hook." Jasper snapped pulling Nickole towards the exit.
We all nodded and began to turn towards the exit before a laugh made me freeze. Jasper broke out into a run, pulling Nickole close behind her. Cat followed quickly, no one turning back to even face the Killer. However, I glanced back in my frozen state.
The Legion stood in the doorway of the hospital, twirling his knife in his hand. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't hot. Something about him drew me to him. Maybe it's a bad case of daddy issues. I tried to force my legs to move towards the exit, but I stared at The Legion intensely.
"What's the matter? Cant move your legs after I put you in your place?" Legion snickered, taking slow strides towards me.
"Fuck off." I muttered.
I could hear Jasper yelling behind me to run, but I was dead focused on The Legion. What was wrong with me? Why couldn't I move?
"Are you trying to die?" The Legion chuckled, getting closer by the second.
"Maybe." I responded.
At that, the Legion froze. "You want me to kill you?"
I didn't quite know what I wanted. I just knew I didn't want to move.  Something was forcing me to stand there and just stare at the man who had stabbed a hook through my chest, leaving me there to hang.
"I'm not sure. I just don't want to leave." I replied, feeling it was the best and most honest answer I could give.
The Legion shook his head. "You're something else, your friends are gone. They can't save you now."
I didn't even glance behind me to check, I just smiled and shrugged. "I'm not scared of you."
The Legion pulled his mask off, his face being revealed to me. His dark hair falling over his forehead and his dark eyes, piercing into my hazel ones. He moved quickly and grabbed my shoulders, our eyes not moving from the other.
"It's not me you should be scared of." He growled. "It's the entity. No matter what killers you manage to entrance with your attitude, you can't escape the entities wants."
I felt tears form into my eyes. "I don't want to be playing this stupid game."
The Legions eyes were comforting, a small smile forming on his lips. "It's bittersweet. You need to escape everyone else. Don't let the entity get you and your fascinating soul."
At that he spun me around and shoved me through the exit, me tumbling outside the big gate, black smoke forming around me, making everything go black.
His words hung over me, his soft eyes were beautiful. Why was such an evil being so beautiful? I closed my eyes and waited for the sounds of the campsite to come to me.
"Arianna!" Jaspers voiced yelled.
I smiled knowing I was safe and at the campsite. My eyes fluttered open, facing the three girls who stared at me in shock. I knew that not following them would make them believe I wouldn't make it. They were probably scared shitless at the possibility that a member was dead first trial.
"I made it?" I giggled with a shrug, my cheeks red from the encounter with The Legion.
"Holy shit, yeah you did." Cat gasped, looking me up and down.
Jasper glanced at the other two and back at me. "How did you make it? He was right there and you took awhile."
I bit my lip nervously. "He wasn't trying to kill me."
Nickole's eyes widened. "He wasn't trying to kill you? Please tell me that secret because that hook fucking hurt."
Cat shook her head. "No, she was hooked too. Only Jasper and I managed to not get hooked this trial."
Jasper began to nod slowly, as if understanding me. "No, I believe it. The Legion had the chance to hook me and simply chose not to."
"Where the fuck is this luck coming from Jasper? First you don't get hooked, second you manage to get the gate open and get nickole out by yourself. How in the hell is this happening?" Cat snapped.
My eyebrows furrowed as I stared at Jasper with jealously. "So he let you live too? What happened?"
"Can I have one question at a time?!" Jasper yelled. "I'm stressed out as it is. This is how it is, apparently someone else is meant to kill me so he let me live. I'm being 'saved' for someone else and so he said he'd let me go."
Nickole raised an eyebrow. "Being saved for someone else?"
I took a seat on a log beside Cat, staring at the campfire. "So it was only for that reason then?"
Jasper nodded. "Yeah, only for that reason."
Nickole stared at Jasper with a worried look. "So.. someone wants to kill you specifically."
Cat groaned. "Isn't that sweet, someone specifically has it out for her."
The four of us stared off into different directions, trying to think about everything that's been happening. My mind was racing after meeting Legion. I wanted to see him again and I couldn't figure out why. That man put me up like meat.
Something about his presence seemed to have calmed me in that moment at the exit. Was it one of his powers? Maybe that's what he does. Like a siren. But he didn't kill me. This thought rang in my head. If he was so bad, why didn't he kill me?
"Arianna, why didn't he kill you?" Jasper asked, breaking the silence.
I couldn't think for a moment. What should I say to them? I just felt safe with him and he pushed me out of the exit gates to get away. Cause that's totally reasonable. I could tell the half truth, no lies. Just half the truth.
"I don't know." I finally said.
Cat grunted. "Mhm, Bullshit."
Jasper leaned forward, her chin resting on her hand. "So what did he say?"
Shit.
"He told me the Entity is the real enemy."
Jasper stood at that. "Really helpful information he gave you. Let's eat and get some rest."
Nobody argued, we had woken up in that trial, our stomachs were empty. We all moved to our tents, bringing out food that was stashed into these mysterious backpacks. I couldn't help but think about how I began to cry to the Legion about my fears.
I was envious of the other girls here.
Jasper was calm and strong. She always knew what to do. Nickole was smart, she could learn anything quickly. Cat was selfless. She was kind to all of us and would do anything for the rest of us. I hadn't seen a single one of them cry.
Why would I cry? Why show weakness?
Yet, standing in front of the Legion, the very killer... I felt safe. I didn't feel weak in that moment. I felt at home for the first time since stepping into this place. Maybe, just maybe, I was just going crazy.
Going through trials were you could be slaughtered would truly drive a poor girl crazy... right?
