I walked into homeroom, wishing I was any where but there. I sat down at a desk in the back of the room. I was a couple minutes before the bell rang, so not that many people were in the room yet. As the bell finally rang, students quickly filed in. I was left alone. Ms. Rickers stood at the front of the room. That's weird. Usually she is just sitting at her desk waiting for us "hooligans" to calm down.
"Good morning class. I would like to introduce to a new student we have today." She spoke in a monotone voice. "Her name is Cassidy Andrews. Treat her politely." Ms. Rickers beckoned for the girl to come through the door of the classroom. As she entered, I gasped under my breath a little. She was beautiful. Her long golden hair was twisted into an intricate braid that hung loosely over her shoulder. She was dressed in an oversized gray sweater and black skinny jeans with black combat boots. I liked her style. She had warm chocolate like eyes that seemed so kind. Her smile looked as if it were to give kind thoughts, but I thought it looked like she had a secret. She had two sets of piercings on her ears. The top were filled with black roses, the bottom gold skulls.
She spoke a small hello, and Ms. Rickers told her to find a seat. Cassidy's eyes scanned the room for open seat. Shit. The only open seat was next to me, which is of course where she sat.
"I'm Cassidy as you might have guessed. You can call me Cass if you want." Her voice ran smoothly, similar to honey. I caught myself staring at the way her lips connected with her tongue as she spoke.
"I'm...um...I'm Riley. You can call me...well, Riley." I managed to stutter out. She didn't seem to notice my stuttering. Or if she did she wasn't going to make a not of it.
"It is so nice to meet you, Riley!" She was sorta peppy, but seemed ok. We spent the next couple of minutes in silence. Finally she broke it and asked about my schedule, showing me hers. I noticed we had all the same classes.
"Actually, we have the same schedule. If you want me to, I could help you around to your classes...."
"Sure," Cass nodded. "That would be so cool of you!" I made a plan in my head to attempt a friendship with her before the end of the day. Let's see how this goes......
