It was 12 - 20.

Which means they were losing.

He watched as the other team made yet another point. Chan was on edge because they only needed four more points to win.

The whole time, Seungcheol was shouting encouraging words towards the team, mostly directed to Mingyu, but he wasn't surprised. Next to him, Seokmin tried to be positive and joined in whenever they scored a net. However, Soonyoung was the complete opposite and was pretty much raging at the fact that the other team were assholes.

And it's true. He's seen the captain being a little too arrogant for his own good and even pushed Seungkwan out of bounds. And it wasn't an accident. Anyone watching could see that it was definitely intentional. Seungkwan was jumping up to reach the ball, but just as his fingertips graced it, the opposing captain came out of nowhere and shoved Seungkwan with his shoulder. Seungkwan landed roughly on the floor and the audience booed at the captain.

Seungkwan looked furious when he was helped up by Junhui. The others looked angry as well as they bursted into a quarrel. No one could hear them, but it was clear that Seungkwan wanted to rip his head off, but refrained from doing it unless he didn't want to play for the rest of the game.

The opposing captain was luckily put on the bench for the remainder of the game.

The whistle was blown and the referee held up his hand, indicating that their team had five minutes to discuss with coach. They approached the bench.

Seungkwan was wearing a solemn expression. So was the rest of the team, but oddly enough, Chan could only zero in his attention on him. He had never seen that kind of face from him, not even when they were fighting stupidly. A weird feeling settled deep in his stomach and he felt like he had to do something.

"At this point, there's no hope," Seungcheol said. "I want to be positive, but the only way they can win is with a miracle."

"Hyung, come on," Chan slapped his knee, in which Seungcheol whined in pain. "Your boyfriend, and let me remind you, wants to be a professional basketball player. If he's not giving up, then why should you?"

Seungcheol sighed, a fond smile appearing. "You really hate negativity, don't you?"

"Yes. Now raise that sign up and let Mingyu hyung know that you're cheering for him!"

Seungcheol's eyes switched almost immediately, from hopeless to hopeful. He did exactly what Chan told him to do. He stood up from his seat and yelled into the slightly quiet stadium.

"Kim Mingyu, you're the best player on the court in my eyes and I know you got this! Now get out there and kick some fucking ass!"

Chan's ears were turning red as he put his hands over his face, completely embarrassed because there were a lot of questionable looks. Mingyu turned to see Seungcheol, and surprisingly, he looked a bit more motivated than before.

Because of Seungcheol's sudden encouragement, Seokmin and Soonyoung both stood up and started throwing out words of wisdom for Seungkwan to hear.

"Yah, Boo Seungkwan! I know you're dream is to be the best player in Korea, so just do your best okay? No matter what kind of situation you're in, me and Seokmin will always support you! So don't you guys dare lose motivation, go out there and show everyone your amazing teamwork!"

Soonyoung's speech seemed to touch everyone, even though Seungkwan looked a little flustered. Even coach seemed to be impressed.

It was Chan's turn. And when he opened his mouth, he's not sure if he regretted it or not.

"Minghao hyung!" he cupped his mouth. "If you win, you owe me a date!"

Suddenly, the crowd turned into a mix of confusion and astonishment.

Minghao eyes were wide, but he didn't look embarrassed. Suddenly, it was as if he was completely determined to win. He said one last thing to his team before he turned on his heel and walked back to the court with so much confidence. It was like it was running off of him in waves.

"Holy shit," Seungcheol whispered. The cheers from their side increased and suddenly everyone had a rush of energy. "Do you mean that?"

"What?" Chan didn't take his eyes off of Minghao.

"You actually like him?"

"Oh," Chan turned to him. "I mean, I'm serious about the date. But, I don't know if I like him right now. He's a good guy, he's nice and really smart, but I kind of just see him as a friend."

Seungcheol blinked at Chan. "What?! Then you're just taking advantage of his feelings?"

"Woah, slow down there," Chan laughed. "I might have a great time with him on our date, so who knows?"

Before he could reply, the referee blew the whistle and motioned towards their team. It looked Minghao made a point, as Mingyu and Junhui both high fives him.

Their attention was back on the court now.

The opposing team threw the ball to start, and as they raced towards the other team's basket, Vernon came from around and stole the ball. He dribbled it for a few seconds, before pivoting on his foot and throwing it to Seungkwan.

Because of their teamwork, they ended up scoring once again.

As Chan squinted, he got a better look at their faces. Behind all of the sweat, there was a burning desire to win. It was a similar expression that they all shared. Chan would not want to be in the opposing team's position if he was playing against them.

But... despite all of that. There was something weird about Seungkwan. Sure, he was practically radiating confidence and passion, but there was something else in his eyes.

And when Seungkwan scanned the audience, they locked eyes for only a few seconds. That's when Chan knew what it was.

Anger.
