"Didn't expect to see you here."
Seungkwan looked up from his notepad and he immediately wanted the ground to swallow him up. Minghao and Junhui sat comfortably in the booth, both staring at Seungkwan with curiosity. Of course, he had to waiter the last two people he wanted to see, was the world really against him?
Two weeks had passed by in a blur. Working at the restaurant with Jihoon has been pretty relaxing, to say the least. It's usually busy during the afternoon, and at night, he would get a ride home with Jihoon, which meant Chan was also there with them. He had to admit, it was nice having someone take care of him, sometimes. Since Seungkwan was the captain, he took care of his team as if his life depended on it. Jihoon was nice enough to help him out when he needed guidance, as he was still new to waiting.
"Are you ready to order?"
Junhui and Minghao shook their heads, "We'll just start with water first, please."
Internally, Seungkwan was grateful that they didn't ask any questions. It wasn't that Seungkwan was embarrassed that he was working, it's completely normal—but ever since the game, Minghao had been avoiding Seungkwan, and they haven't talked since. Even during practice, he would give Seungkwan the cold shoulder, and he would often brush it off as something mild. But Seungkwan is the captain, and it's his responsibility to make sure they're okay.
"You weren't at practice today, Junhui hyung?" Seungkwan decided to make small talk, since he was going to be their waiter, it was better to stay professional. "Is everything okay?"
Junhui chuckled. "You don't need to worry, Seungkwan. I got caught up in tutoring a friend, but I'll be there next week."
"Since when did you start tutoring?" Seungkwan asked as he poured water into both of their glasses.
Junhui shrugged, "I don't usually, but I'm good at chemistry."
Seungkwan nodded, secretly glancing at Minghao was still looking through the menu. He decided not to engage in a conversation with him just yet, as he was still on his shift and he doesn't want Jihoon to catch him slacking off. He hurries off towards another table, who asks for the bill.
After processing their payment, Seungkwan walks back to Minghao and Junhui, who seemed to be ready to order.
"We'll get two bowls of wonton soup, fried rice and pork to share."
Seungkwan clicked his pen, quickly scribbling the orders down, despite it not being hard to remember.
He walked back to give the order to the kitchen. Seungkwan got out a cloth to start wiping the tables when the bells chimed, signalling a customer had entered.
Just when his day couldn't get any worse, Lee Chan had to walk through the restaurant, looking extremely tired and desperate.
Luckily, his coworker went to go talk with him, but Chan shook his head, scanning the room before his eyes landed on Minghao and Junhui's table. He rushed towards them, and once they noticed him, Junhui lit up but Minghao had the exact opposite expression. It was as if Chan was the last person he wanted to see, which, Seungkwan wasn't surprised about. Especially since he knew about the leading on from Chan.
"Yah, Seungkwan! What are you spacing out for?" Seungkwan didn't realize he's been staring at them for a good minute until he felt water sliding down the table. He cursed under his breath, sending an apologetic look at Jungwoo, his coworker. "You've been acting weird all day. What's up?"
