The Warden threw a party in the county jail
The prison band was there, and they began to wail
~ "Jailhouse Rock", Elvis Presley
Marlena had offered to watch the baby while Susan took a nap. Her sleep was all messed up because between traveling, and the near constant stress, she hadn't been getting much sleep. Marlena had spoken with her some the evening before. Since Susan had already been Marlena's patient, she knew how to decipher what she was saying, and just prior to Kristen locking Marlena in the secret room, Marlena had figured most of it out.
He shook his little fist, and babbled at her, while staring at her face, and Marlena smiled softly. He was such a beautiful baby. His eyes were turning an amazing shade of hazel, and his mannerisms reminded her so much of Brady and Belle, she wondered if John wasn't the baby's father after all. Everyone involved knew that Stefano DiMera was a deranged sociopath. The things he had done were already past the realm of comprehension. Contemplating what he might be capable of boggled the mind.
Abe had mentioned that Susan allowed them to get a DNA sample from the baby, and they had gotten one from John last night for comparison. Marlena wanted the baby to be John's so badly, simply because he was so bonded to the child. Finding out he wasn't the father would break his heart; however, Susan was adamant that the baby's father was Elvis. Everyone, except Susan, knew that Elvis was not the father.
John had just put Belle and Brady down for their naps, and stood watching Marlena from the doorway. She nuzzled her face in John Jr's neck, and whispered to him about how handsome he was, and John felt like he fell in love with her all over again. She was so natural with him, when normally John Jr. didn't take to people so easily. Walking towards her, John said, "If he's not mine, it's going to break my heart, Doc." He reached out, and smoothed his hand over the baby's face, in a gesture Marlena remembered from when Brady was a baby.
She watched him as he looked at the child in her arms with the saddest look, and it nearly made her cry. "John, we're going to get to the bottom of this. We both know that Elvis is not the father of Susan's baby. You know...she said last night that she would be willing to allow me to hypnotize her. It might be useful, honey. She remembers so little of what happened."
"Do you know how much I love you, lady?"
"You've told me once or twice over the last few days," she said, looking into his blue eyes with a small smile. "But, you know, you can always tell me again."
"I love you, Dr. Marlena Evans, with all of my heart, and all of my soul," he murmured across her lips, as he leaned forward, careful not to squish the baby. "I love you with everything I am," he finished before his lips took hers, and his tongue swept into her mouth.
"Kissy, kissy, kissy," Susan taunted, walking into the room all disheveled from her nap. "Dr. Marlena Evans and Mr. John Black sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G! First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a dead husband, then comes an affair, then comes a baby, then comes love again..."

Bo couldn't shake it. Something was going on with Roman. It didn't feel right. If he was honest with himself, it had never felt right. When Roman came back, he looked like his brother, he spoke like his brother...but he had never really behaved like his brother. Bo found it unsettling. He had watched Roman verbally, and emotionally abuse his family for years before he left to go back to the ISA. He said he left Salem because Marlena had broken his heart, but Bo had watched Roman push everyone out of his life starting almost as soon as he returned. He allowed Sami and Eric to go to Colorado. When Sami came home, Roman worked almost constantly, and rarely spent time with her, while John continued to play a role in her life...at least he had until the affair. Roman had been so hard on Carrie, she'd moved out at eighteen. Eric hasn't come home, and instead chose to remain in Colorado. Eric still sometimes referred to John as Dad, and when Bo spoke to him, he never asked about Roman at all. In Bo's mind, Roman's anger, aggression, and controlling nature had pushed Marlena right into John's arms.
