Well, please don't ask what's on my mind
I'm a little mixed up, but I'm feeling fine
~ "All Shook Up", Elvis Presley
Abe and Bo sat at the desk with the DNA results between them, more confused over what the report said, than they had been before. Looking at Bo, Abe said, "We have to call Shane in on this. He's going to want to know."
"Wasn't he supposed to arrive in Salem yesterday?"
"He was, but I think he's been tailing Roman," Abe told him, reading over the report again. "So, how do you want to handle this?"
"I barely understand it," Bo said in frustration, running his fingers through his hair haphazardly.
"Ok, let's see. John Jr. is John's child...but not Susan's, so we have an unknown mother. Roman is not related to you at all, which means he's probably not Roman at all," Abe said slowly. "But right here," Abe finished pointing his finger at the report. "This is odd..."
"I know! Who ran this report anyway?"
"It's not wrong Bo, I had them run the results twice for a double verification. Somehow, Bo, you are related to John Jr."
"So John is the baby's father, and I'm related to the baby?" Bo said. They both sat there, in dumfounded silence for a moment, before Bo just blurted out his concern, "Is John, Roman? Did we make a fucking mistake in Mexico? Didn't the ISA do a DNA test?"
"They did, but that was under Chief Tarrington...oh my G-d, Bo...oh my G-d..." Abe stood abruptly, rubbing his hand over his forehead. If this was true, then they had all failed Roman in the worst way.
"Tarrington was as shady as sin, Abe. We both know that. Did he lie? Did he fucking lie?" Bo shouted, slamming his fist on the desk. "I hate this, because I knew. I fucking knew, Abe. Ever since Roman came back, I was unsettled about all of it, and now this? I mean if John is really Roman...he and Marlena never had an affair, Sami has hated both of them for no reason, Eric can come home...and Ma and Pop...this will kill them, Abe. How do you want to handle this?"
"Could we get a DNA sample from Kayla or Kimberly? Would one of them be willing, without telling your parents yet?" Abe wondered.
"If we want this done fast, I'm going to have to ask my parents. What if I just give them part of the story? I can tell them about the weirdness with Roman, and make up some story about the ISA needing it for comparison?" Bo offered.
"That will work, I think. We need it soon, like tonight, Bo."
"I'll go now. I'm assuming that you're going to head over to the safe house?"
Before Abe could answer Bo's question, the telephone rang, "Abe Carver...Really? Have Officer Benton bring him in. I've got some questions, and I'm hoping he has the answers." He hung up the phone, and saw Bo looking at him with a raised eyebrow, so he said, "The one, and only, Dr. Wilhelm Rolf just tried to kidnap Stefano DiMera from University Hospital."
"Well, I'll be damned. That made our job easier," Bo laughed, as he stood up. "Do you want me to wait around, or should I go to the pub now?"
"Go to the pub, partner, we need this figured out as soon as possible," Abe told him. "I'm calling Shane in on this one...now."

Bo entered the pub, breathless from walking so fast, and watched his mother behind the bar, wiping it down. She looked up at him, and smiled, saying, "Bo! I wasn't expecting to see you tonight."
