Chapter 4: Her Best Friends

She went into her room and threw herself on the bed. There was a knock on the door. She couldn't answer because it felt like her throat was clogged up. "Ariana?" Meguru asked and opened the door. He saw her covering her face with a pillow. "Ariana?" Meguru asked walking over to her. "Please... Don't look at me." Ariana said. "What's wrong?" Meguru asked. "I can't..." Ariana said. "What?" Meguru said. "I can't... Take this anymore..." Ariana said. "What happened?" Meguru asked. The door opened, and it was Shiki holding a beverage in his hands. He saw Meguru with her, and he set the beverage on the table. "It's for her." Shiki said. "Shiki, can you get her some tissues?" Meguru asked. "Ok." Shiki said and walked out of the room.

Shortly after, he came back with a box of tissues. "Thank you, Shiki." Meguru said. "I can't sleep with her like that." Shiki said. "Do you want to help you make her feel better?" Meguru asked. "So she can quit crying." Shiki said. "Ariana, would you like to talk about what happened?" Meguru asked. She nodded slightly with her face still in the pillow, and lifted her face out of the pillow. Meguru offered her tissues, and she got some. "It's a couple of reasons." Ariana said. "We'll listen." Meguru said. "Well... When the first day that I came here when Kakeru mentioned that I was getting picked on, well... I've been constantly picked on since elementary school. It calmed down some, but it's still not going away. You see, they would always make fun of me and physically abuse me in school. It's all because they see me as a weak person, which I am. And then on top of that... My parents got a divorce right after my sixteenth birthday, and they both passed away barely a year ago. All I have is my older sister. I realized that the last time I'm going to see her is at her wedding..." Ariana said and started to cry more.

Meguru rubbed her back. "It'll be alright." Meguru said. Shiki took the drink off the table and handed it to her. "Thank you." Ariana said receiving it and gulp it down. "Thank you for trying to make me feel better you guys." Ariana said. "It's fine with me. You can always talk to me about anything." Meguru said. "Me too." Shiki said. "Really?" Ariana asked. "Of course, we'll try to help you out the best we can." Meguru said. She gave them a small smile. "Thank you." Ariana said. "Are you feeling better?" Meguru asked. "Yeah, it's thanks to you two." Ariana said. "I'll be right back." Shiki said getting up and getting out the room. "Even if Shiki says those things, he doesn't mean it. He has trouble wording things, so don't take it to heart. He's worried about you too." Meguru said. "He is?" Ariana asked. "Yes, I can tell. I do too, we both will be here if you need us." Meguru said. She smiled.

Shiki came back to the room. He was holding a stuffed bear in his hand. He held it out in front of her. "Here." Shiki said. She took it from him. "Is this yours?" Ariana asked. "It's yours now." Shiki said. "Oh... Thank you." Ariana said. He said nothing. "You see, he's trying to make you feel better too. So please don't cry anymore." Meguru said. She wiped her eyes with a tissue. "Ok, I'll try to stop. Thank you for calming me down." Ariana said. "No problem. Just take it easy for tonight, and get a good night's sleep." Meguru said. "I will." Ariana said. "Good night." Meguru said. "Good night, Meguru, Shiki." Ariana said. They both left the room. She was lying in her bed, trying to fall asleep.

The next day, Ariana was getting ready to go out to go dress shopping. She went downstairs, and got out her keys. "Ariana, good morning. Are you going somewhere?" Meguru asked. "Yeah, I'm going dress shopping for my sister's wedding." Ariana said. "Alright. Would you like some breakfast first?" Meguru asked. "Sure." Ariana said. He put a plate of food on the table.

She shortly after finished her breakfast. "That was good. Thank you Meguru." Ariana said. "You're welcome. I hope you find a good dress." Meguru said. "I will, I'll be on my way." Ariana said and went through the front door.

She arrived at the mall for her dress shopping. She went into a dress and tuxedo store that had a huge variety of lovely dresses. "I should be able to find the perfect dress here." Ariana said to herself. She went through aisles of dresses, and was trying on different ones. "This one! This is the one." Ariana said.

She bought the dress she like and went out of the store. "Ariana Hanasaki?" A girl's voice asked. She turned around, and thought the girl was familiar. "Mikoto Hazuki?" Ariana asked. "You do remember me! I'm glad. I haven't seen you since sophomore year in high school." Mikoto said. "It's been a while, how have you been?" Ariana asked. "I've been fantastic! I'm doing so well in law school. How about you?" Mikoto asked. "I'm doing good also. I'm still deciding on what I want to be." Ariana said. "That's perfectly normal. I also wanted to tell you that I met someone and we're dating." Mikoto said. "Good for you! What is he like?" Ariana asked. "He's really kind, and treats me so well." Mikoto said. "That's good. I wish you two happiness." Ariana said. "Have you found someone yet?" Mikoto asked. "Oh no, not yet." Ariana said. "You'll find someone soon, I know it. You're really pretty." Mikoto said. "Thank you." Ariana said. "You bought a dress?" Mikoto asked. "Oh, yeah. My sister's wedding is in a week." Ariana said. "Really? Tell her I said congratulations!" Mikoto said. "I will." Ariana said. "Let's exchange phone numbers so we can keep in touch." Mikoto said. "Sure thing." Ariana said. They both gave each other their phone numbers. "There. Well, I have to do some shopping. It was nice to see you again." Mikoto said. "You too. Well, bye." Ariana said. They parted ways, and Ariana exited out of the mall.

She arrived back at the Demon House with a smile on her face. "Welcome back, I see you got a dress." Meguru said. "Yeah, I really like it." Ariana said. Shiki was in the living room watching T.V. "I'm going to hang this up." Ariana said and went upstairs.

When she hung up her dress in her room, she went back downstairs. "Meguru." Ariana said. "Yes?" Meguru asked. "Can I help you with anything?" Ariana asked. "Sure, can you chop these vegetables for me?" Meguru asked. "Ok." Ariana said and began to chop the vegetables. "Do I dump it in this bowl?" Ariana asked. "Yeah." Meguru said. She dumped the vegetables in the bowl. "Thank you for helping me, I can take care of the rest. Why don't you join Shiki?" Meguru asked. "Ok." Ariana said and went where Shiki was. "Can I join you?" Ariana asked. "Yeah." Shiki said.

She sat on the same couch as him. "What are you watching?" Ariana asked. "Mini Cops." Shiki said. "I heard about this one. I only watched the first episode." Ariana said. "You're behind." Shiki said. "I know. I've been watching Fairy Tail instead, it's about wizards." Ariana said. He said nothing. "While I was at the mall, I saw something you might like. So... Here." Ariana said holding out a prize figurine. "Do you have this one already?" Ariana asked. "No." Shiki said. "This is from me to you. Take it." Ariana said. He took the prize from her. "...Thanks." Shiki said with a small smile.

After dinner, Ariana was getting a towel out of the outside closet. "Hey Ariana, you're going to take a bath? Can I join you?" Satoru asked. "Uh... No." Ariana said. "Satoru, shame on you!" Haruhito said. "What? She's at the legal age." Satoru said. "That still isn't right!" Haruhito said. "All I wanted was to take a bath, and I'm going to do that." Ariana said. "Need any help with that?" Satoru asked. "I said no!" Ariana said and went into the bathroom. "I was just joking." Satoru said. The door of the bathroom opened. "Really? Now... Can the both of you please stop hanging around the door of the bathroom when I'm about to take a bath?" Ariana said and closed the door again.

The two of them walked away to join with the other guys. Ariana was in the bath, letting the hotness of the water wash away her tense muscles. She was singing songs that came into mind out loud not knowing that it was echoing throughout the whole bathroom.

After her little concert in the bath, she got out and dried herself off with a towel. She put her clothes that she brought with her,and was drying her hair off with the towel she had.

After that, she stepped out of the bathroom. "Enjoy your concert?" Satoru asked. "Was I..?" Ariana asked. The guys were trying their best to hold in their laughter, literally all five of them. "I deny everything!" Ariana said and ran as fast as she can upstairs. They couldn't contain it any longer and let it out. "She was pretty loud, don't you think?" Haruhito asked. "It was adorable." Meguru said. "I have something I can hold against her." Satoru said. "That was too much." Kakeru said. "Too loud." Shiki said. In Ariana's room, she was sitting on her bed. "That was so embarrassing..." Ariana said. She was hugging her pillow tightly. "Tomorrow... Marks the halfway point. Five more days..." Ariana said.
