FORTY - NINE

Haneul woke up only to find the time is almost six in the evening. She's been out for long hours. Her body ached and her head throbbed as she slowly tries to get off the bed but she couldn't. Everything is a blur to her. Her visions and her memories.The last thing she remembered was waking up to Taehyung helped her out. Haneul decided to fight back her weakness and slowly get up from the bed. She grabbed her bag and open up the door carefully before making her way downstairs. She did not even dare to turn around and look for him.

Without thinking any longer, she left the house and run as fast as she can. Haneul refuse to look back and ignore the fact that she is barefooted. She continue to run until she finds the main road and raise her hand for a cab. She immediately get into the cab and lock the door. "Where to, Miss?" The driver asked. "Seoul Police HQ." She replied. Haneul could not stop fidgeting and biting her fingers. She really don't know where to go except back to her workplace. The only place that is safe for her. When the cab came to a halt, Haneul paid up for the fare but it was not enough. She just got out and wanted to run but the driver chase her until she entered the building. Haneul accidentally bumped onto a man. "Haneul? Jesus.. you look horrible." Do Kyung said as he holds her. "Yah! You still owe me..."

Do Kyung immediately fish out his wallet and hand the driver a couple more cash before dismissing the driver. "Shit lets get you upstairs." He lifted Haneul up gently and take her up to his office. He placed Haneul on his office couch and get a glass of ice water for her. "For the love of God, do you want to tell me what happened to you?" He asked as Haneul took the glass of water from him and drink it. "We tried to call you but somehow, we couldn't reach you. Haneul, please let me know if you're dealing with something rough in your life right now. I know that you've been through a huge loss of your loved ones but seeing your condition right now, I'm sure there are more than just that." Do Kyung said as he gently tuck her hair behind her ear.

"I'm going to resign, Do Kyung. Do not try to change my decision. It is final." Haneul said softly as she wipes off her tears. "I'm going to take a long break and do whatever that is necessary and best for me." She added before she get up and make her way to the window. Haneul close her eyes and she could feel the pain in her heart. It felt like someone squeezed her heart tightly when she saw the incident at The Royals. Do Kyung nods. "I respect your decision. Send me resignation letter. In a meantime, if you wish to go somewhere quiet, I have a family house in Jeju Island. You may stay there for as long as you want considering you need time to heal." He offered and Haneul think for a moment. "Thank you for your offer but I think I will just find my own way. In a meantime, can I crash in at your place?" She asked.

"Sure. I have a rent apartment that you can stay for a meantime. Let me know if you need any help." Haneul nods. "Great. I'll take you there now so you can rest comfortably there." Do Kyung assist Haneul by carrying her bag and lead her to his car. "Haneul, I think it is best if you tell me what is going on. I heard good things about you but somehow from what I see right now, it does not match with the words I heard." Do Kyung said as he unlock his car and open the door for Haneul. The female detective just look at him for a moment before she gets into the car. Haneul was all silence through out the whole journey. She did not want to say a word and just look straight ahead.

When both arrives in the apartment, Do Kyung open up the curtain wide to let so natural lights into the house. "Make yourself comfortable. I have to go back to work." He said as he placed her bag in the master bedroom. "Fridge is all stocked up. Feel free to take anything in it." He added before walking towards the door. "Oh by the way, the owner of this apartment will drop by to send some paperwork. Just take it from him and also the spare keys." He said. "Thank you for allowing me to crash in here. Once I settle my paperwork, I'll leave." She said and he just smile. "No worries. Take your time to rest." Do Kyung left.

Haneul POV
As soon Do Kyung left, I slowly take off the bandage on my head and arm. I decided to clean myself up and take a long dip in the bathtub. When the moment I sat in the hot tub, my body relaxes. I leaned my head and close my eyes. The feeling is different without Taehyung. I feel empty and needy. My hand slowly along my naked body and begin to touch myself. My fingers run along the soft skin of my clit and my lips parted slightly. I breathes heavily as I continue to masturbate. The moment I felt a hand place above mine, I opened my eyes and saw Taehyung sitting by the side of the tub. "Taehyung..." I whispered his name. "I miss you, princess." He said as he touches me.

I said as I continue to walk over to the door. Perhaps this is the house owner that Do Kyung was talking about. I hold my robe tightly and open up the door. My body froze the moment I saw the man that stood in front of me. The man walks forward and close the door behind him. My body hit the wall and he trapped me in between himself and the wall. He gently brush his hand on my cheek and I leaned into his touch. I miss this. I miss his scent. "Leave, please." I said as I close my eyes and look away.
