He had just returned to town. Right there, in the airport parking lot, he saw her. She was on the phone, and he wondered who she was talking to. She had a fascinating giggle, and her hair bounced off her shoulders as she walked. She was struggling with her suitcases and almost tripped, especially since her one hand was exclusively busy. Clumsy, he thought. He leaned against the hood of his rental car and watched, scrutinized, studied. This was not his plan, at least not today. But was she enticing! What is a woman like you doing in a town like this? He wondered, shifting on his left leg.
"No, no, it's already late, and I am so exhausted. We can meet up tomorrow… what's that? Icon? Yeah yeah, I know the place…perfect." She said and finally, finally put her phone in her handbag. He looked away just in time to avoid their eyes meeting. She looks feisty, he thought, trailing her as she walked to a cab and disappeared inside.
...That Night
David stood on Jean's porch, watching. He was like an animal, watching its prey, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce. As he contemplated his attack, he heard movement behind him. Upon turning around, there was an older woman staring back at him. The only thing that gave him relief was the fact that she was smiling. He smiled back. He knew that was a winning card, any day.
"I’m sure she won’t bite.” She said suggestively, gesturing at Jean’s house. Still quiet, David eyed the older woman curiously before slowly turning his head to look at the house. An unfriendly and impromptu thought came to him. Maybe this way, he would enjoy the hunt and the kill. So he knocked, and as he did so, he turned around again. She was gone. Huh… he sighed in wonder as the door hinges creaked.Pleased remember to vote, comment, and share loves ❤️ 🙏
