The thunder neared and he didn't hear anything more. Luka ran upstairs and found Chloe crouched down in a corner with her head in her hands.

"Chloe," he asked, "What's wrong?"

Chloe looked up. Her makeup was smudged and her eyes were red. Luka sat beside her, "Chloe," he repeated, "What's wrong?

Another flash of lightning made the blonde shriek.

"Are you- do you need anything?" he asked sympathetically.

"S-stay," she whispered shakily, clutching his hand.

"I'm not going anywhere," he promised. She wrapped her arms around him in a tight embrace.

"I hate this, I'm always by myself during thunderstorms, I hate it!" she sobbed.

He'd never seen Chloe so...so vulnerable.

"It's embarrassing," she added, burying her face in his jacket.

"It's not embarrassing, everyone has their fears,"

"Not in my family," she cried, "I have to hide to cry, my mom-"

"I'm sorry," he said, kissing her on the cheek.

"I love you," Chloe whispered, closing her eyes. He heard her start to fall asleep. He picked her up and placed her on the bed. It was still thundering, so he lay next to her. Before he knew it, he'd fallen asleep.

Luka woke up and saw Chloe sleeping peacefully. He kissed her head and saw her smile slightly.

"I know you're awake Chloe," he said.

"No, I'm not," she mumbled.

He pulled the blanket off her.

"Nooo," she complained. Then she opened her eyes and was embarrassed to see Luka staring at her. She grabbed the blanket and covered herself up. Her arms were wrapped around her teddy bear.

Luka chuckled and she glared at him playfully.

"I can order breakfast," he offered.

She nodded, "Can you order some pancakes? A lot of them,"

"Sure,"

20 minutes later, Chloe had showered and walked downstairs to a full table of pancakes with elegant glasses of syrup.

"Oh my gosh," she exclaimed. Luka was sitting there with a casual smile.

Luka grabbed a pancake from the huge stack and carefully added syrup.

Chloe shrugged and drenched her pancake in syrup. He raised his eyebrow, but did the same.

"Chloe," he began, "Are you...okay?"

She chewed her pancake slowly and avoided his eyes. She reached to grab another, but Luka moved the plate back.

"Chloe I'm serious," he said, "As your "supposed" soulmate, I need to know,"

"There's nothing you need to know," she said defensively.

He took a deep breath, "You don't have to tell me now, whenever you're ready I guess,"

"Luka, she sighed, "You can't tell anyone about last night, all you need to know is that it's just a stupid fear when I was a kid,"

"I wasn't going to tell anyone," he replied icily, "It's normal to have fears y'know,"

"I know! Can you shut up about it now? No one needs to know all my business!" she stabbed her fork into her pancake with sheer aggression.

Luka looked down at his plate and pushed his chair out, but Chloe shot him an icy glare that told him to sit right back down.
