In masquerade parties
Wearing those ball gowns and dancing to others
We paint our faces with makeup
Trying to hide in the shadows of another
And somehow we seem to find a way to conceal what is real
But this mask we wear is the key to our own fairytale that we don't want to wake up from
No need to hurry for we are not Cinderella, but the beast is hiding in the form of a beauty
An illusion of how we want everyone to think and see us
The mask that disguises us from everything and only shows signs of perfection
Hiding our faces from everyone and lying to hide what is true
But believe me a mask can hide so much before the truth is revealed
So appreciate what our masks are for
Soon it can be a whole lot more
Because a mask for you and me is different
