Liam's POV

I was playing a rock, paper, scissors with Mike today in glee club. We both were bored, we needed anything to pass time. Nobody wanted to hear about Quinn and Finn's doctor bills.

"All right, guys. We're doing a new number for sectionals." Mr. Schue walked in. I know that pop songs have sort of been our signature pieces. But I did a little research on past winners and it turns out that the judges like songs that are more accessible. Stuff they know, standards, Broadway."

"Defying Gravity"? I have an iPod shuffle dedicated exclusively to selections from Wicked. This is amazing." Kurt was taking deep breaths, that's how excited he was.

He got crushed when Mr. Schuester said this. "Think you can handle it, Rachel?"

"It's my go-to shower song. It's also my ringtone." Mercedes didn't like this idea either. "Why do we have to go all vanilla on this song? See, what we need is my chocolate thunder."

Mr. Schue seemed like he wasn't taking any crap today. "We don't have time to rearrange the for you, Mercedes. Rachel is singing it. Don't worry. We'll find something for you to dip in chocolate." Making everyone laugh besides Kurt and Rachel.

"Onto item two. The school won't play for the special bus we need to take Artie and his wheelchair with us to sectionals."

"W-What?" Tina asked. "That's completely unfair." Rachel stood up for him. "That's bullshit! They can't do this to Artie!" I yelled. "So, we're going to have to raise money to pay for it ourselves. See, when I was in Glee club and we needed new silk cummerbunds for regionals, we held a bake sale."

I was the only one who seemed happy about it. Everyone else started to laugh. "Wait. You're joking, right? I mean, bake sales are kind of bougie." Santana said next to Matt. I'm glad they are together. I'm happy for Matt.

"So, hip people stopped eating delicious sugary treats?" Mr. Schue asked defensively. "It's not that. It's most of us don't know how to bake. I find recipes confusing." Brittney added. "My family's fully committed to takeout." Rachel joined in.

"Yeah, Mr. Schue. Kids are busier than when you went here. We've got homework and football and teen pregnancy, lunch." Finn chimed in.

I slowly raised my hand in the air. "Liam?" Mr. Schue asked. "I can bake. I sometimes baked at the diner. I know how to make some nice desserts and meals."

"Wow, he bakes, is athletic, nice, funny. So sad you let him go." Quinn snickered. I didn't reply, I just rolled my eyes.

"Can't Artie's dad just take him?" Mercedes asked. "I can't believe how insensitive you're all being. Are you a team?"

"Of course, but Artie understands. Don't you, Artie?" Quinn looked at him. "Of course. It's cool." He tried to hide his pain. "Anything that takes away our time from rehearsing doesn't serve the team."

The school bell rang making everyone get up and leave. I stayed behind to help Artie with his shoe laces.

"I got it Artie." I said bending down to tie it. "I'm sorry about how those guys treated you. It's not fair. I can raise the money to get you the bus."

"Thanks, Liam." Artie smiled. "Yeah, I'm really sorry about how they all reacted, Artie." Mr. Schue joined in. "It's okay, I'm used to it. They just don't get it."

"I'll see you guys later." I got up and walked out of the choir room. "Thank you, Liam." Mr. Schue shouted out.

The next day in glee club Kurt wanted to say something. "I have something I'd like to say. I want to audition for the Wicked solo."

"Kurt, there's a high "F" in it." Mr. Schue put down that idea. "That's well enough in my range."
