Jasmine

Glancing back up to see the womans face clearly, I'm trying to place her in my memories. Those pieces of my past are often blurred fragments. Sometimes, I struggle to even remember my mothers face.

"What's your name" I ask her

"Griselda, dear, I know it's hard for you to remember things from your past" she tells me "that night was full of powerful magic. Witches on both sides, unleashed power we haven't seen in quite some time. Side effects were bound to happen, one of which seems to be memory loss. I suffered a bit myself, as did others. It's not surprising that you would, too. As a seer, my memories came back quickly, mostly in dreams while I was sleeping. We've followed you closely, but not close enough to be noticed. I've be waiting, for the moment you would finally seek me out.  The fates are determined that your path be made on your own, no matter how many times I wanted to intervene, I couldn't. Now that you are here, I can help you without facing the consequences"

Consequences

My eyes shift to Gavin, he looks equally as confused as I do, again. This is a lot of information to process, a tiny part of myself wants to trust her, but life has shown me otherwise. The only person I can trust fully is Gavin.

"What do you mean consequences" I ask her

"Hmm, yes, I figured that would make you curious. The fates are tricky, you never know what they'll do if you interfere with the plans foretold"

"You speak of the fates, as if they're actual beings" I interject.

Griselda chuckles at my remark, she walks over to a wooden hutch behind us, taking out a small box, she sets it down on a table in the corner.

"Come, have a seat and I'll make some tea. We have a lot more to discuss" she says, before turning to leave the room.

Gavin and I both walk towards the table, he grabs my hand tightly, giving me a small nod of encouragement. As we sit down, I can't take my eyes of the box. Im sure it's filled with secrets of my past, maybe even the information I need to unlock my wolf.
I should just take it now and run, this coven hasn't offered to help me in the past, why should I trust them to help me now.

"I see the wheels in your mind turning, but you can only run so long, before they will finally catch you" Griselda says, walking back into the room.

Gavin's shoulders tense at her words, even I'm shocked by them. It makes me wonder if one of her powers is reading minds.

"No, I can't read minds. Don't worry" she says, as she places a cup of tea in front of me.

Im positive my cheeks are red from embarrassment, I dare not to look her in the eyes, as I take a sip from the cup.

"Like I said before, everything was seen in a vision, the fates determined this path, long before you were even born. You asked if they were beings, but it's a little more complicated than that. The story is a bit muddled from being passed down through the years. The gist of it, is they were once beings, witches in fact. Now, I'm not really sure you can consider them alive, or dead. They're just there, probably using you in a game of revenge, but one can never tell the inner workings of their plots.
Three sisters, who were cursed, by whom, I don't know. Again, the story being muddled. This box contains bits of information recorded over the years, from what we've gathered, they were extremely powerful. Destroying everything and everyone in their path, driven by lust for more power. This gained the attention of the Gods, who rarely care what happens in the mortal realm, but their precious creations were being slaughtered, so I supposed they deemed it necessary to step in"

This story sounds absolutely crazy.

"The sisters plan was to tear down the veil between the realms. Exposing each of us to one another, letting chaos loose between us all.
Assuming, you are unfamiliar with the veil between each realm, it was placed by the Gods themselves.
We are their toys, so to speak, and they don't like to share.
If the Sisters accomplished what they set out to do; the Fae, vampire and our realm would have been a free for all. There is a reason why we're separated, we may be the most powerful on our side of the veil, but we would never stand a chance to both the Fae and Vampire"

My eyes dart back to Gavin, both of us trying our best to process this information. An almost unbelievable story of, apparently deranged sisters; more supernatural beings and revenge plots. Gods playing with us like toys...
what on earth have I gotten myself into.

"You are serious?" Gavin asks, before I have a chance to say something myself.

"Very much so" she replies. Taking a sip from her cup.

"As I mentioned, things were a bit muddled being passed down with limited information. I'm sure that was purposely done by the sisters, but what we do know, is in that box.
Not much I'm afraid, however, you two will both discover the whole truth on this journey you're on. I can't give you more answers than that but I'm here to assist you along the way. I will help Jasmine the best I can and I will guide you to the next person you need to meet"

This feels like another dead end, filled with vague answers and a whole lot more confusion. I'm positive a headache is creeping up now. My temples are throbbing, attempting to relieve some of the tension, I slowly rub them.

Honestly, I just need to distract myself, mostly my hands, to keep them from fidgeting while I sit here. Gavin places a hand on my thigh, giving a soft squeeze, reminding me again that I'm not alone in this. I turn my head and smile at him, the warmth from his hand gives me more comfort than he can imagine. His eyes find mine and I'm lost for a moment in those beautiful blue orbs. Without a doubt, this man, truly is magnificent.
