Amara's POV:

I force a calm, but serious look on my face as I walk down the hall, towards the elevator. I hear all the talking and movement that was coming from my employees pause as they frighteningly watch me walk down the hall. I can hear my black heels click clack down that hall as I walk down the hallway. I walk inside the elevator pressing the button for the 12th floor.

I look into the elevator mirror and straighten my black suit jacket. I lean down and fix my black suit pants, fixing my waist band. I lean down even more so I can smooth out the bottom part of my suit pants and straighten my shoes back to perfection.

I hear the ding of the elevator so I turn around, stand up straight, and begin to walk out. I continue to walk down the hall with my eyes set on my office door.

I finally make it to the black, office door and I place my hand on the doorknob turning it open. I walk in confidently and head over to my desk. I pause to look over the view of the city my glass wall gives me. I close my eyes taking in the silence which is soon interrupted by my office door swinging open roughly.

I sigh softly, opening my eyes as I hear soft and quick footsteps coming towards me. "Ma!" I hear my daughter yell excitedly. "This boy in day care tried to kiss me after I said no, so I punched him in the throat just how you taught me!" she says with a proud smile on her face. "I'm so proud of you, Ophelia." I say with a small smile on my face as I turn around to look at her.

"I have to start on my work, so Tia Aaliyah is going to take you to school today." I mumble my smile dropping from my face as I look at my assistant. "Okay, Ma! You'll pick me up right?" Ophelia questions with a hopeful smile on her face. "I promise, I'll try my best to be there." I respond while giving her a reassuring smile back. I lean down to kiss her on the forehead while mumbling bye and I love you.

I watch Ophelia as she walks towards Aaliyah and frowns once Aaliyah sits her down on the couch. I mimic the frown as Aaliyah walks towards me and declares, "You're not a bad mother if you can't take her to school." "I've never not had time for her." I respond with sadness in my tone. "You work hard just for her besides she's 6 years old, I don't think it matters that much to her." she tells me while frowning at me.

"Look, Amara. You're an amazing mom. You give her everything she needs, but not everything she wants so she doesn't end up spoiled. You're risking the chance at true love just so she doesn't end up with a traumatic childhood just how you did. You're teaching her what to do if someone doesn't take no for an answer so she doesn't get hurt just how you did. You're managing to be the CEO of a business while making time for Ophelia whenever she needs you. You're the best mom she could ever ask for." Aaliyah rants as she points at Ophelia.

"No wonder you're my best friend." I say with a smile on my face. "I'm your only friend." She responds with a scoff. I roll my eyes and say, "Shouldn't you be taking Ophelia to school?" "Yeah, yeah, yeah." she grumbles quietly while walking towards Ophelia and pulling her out of my office.

I sigh and walk over to my office chair, sitting down in front of my desk. I pull my laptop out of my bag and open it only having 6 hours to work before I have to go pick up Ophelia from school. I pull my phone out of my suit pocket and set an alarm 6 hours from now.

I don't know how I feel about this chapter but I guess it's all right for my first time. I might edit this in the future depending on how lazy I feel. Also, I find it kinda funny how I'm writing this as if anyone's actually gonna read it.
