(Pov Eddie/Third person)
Authors note-This story begins on the walk on the walk to Nancy's house in the Up-side down.
Being gay in 1986 was already hard enough for Eddie and having a crush on the straightest person he knew wasn't making it any easier. Okay scratch that, the straightest person he had the honor of calling his friend. Wait, could he even call Steve his friend? I mean yeah they were in some fucked up version of Hawkins fighting for each other's life's. But we're they friends?
"Hey Steve," Eddie paused biting his lip "Are we friends?" he asked nervously.
Steve who had been previously walking ahead of Eddie, swaying flashlight side to side making sure him and Eddie didn't step on any of those weird ass "vines" stopped with out any warning.
Steve flipped around and looked him dead in the eye, "Are we friends?! Seriously Munson?" he demanded.
Eddie gulped and looked down at the ground ashamed and pissed. Of course... Why the FUCK would former King Steve want shit to do with Eddie "The freak" Muson. Much less be friends. Well at least if Harrington was going to be an asshole Eddie could get over him faster.
"I mean seriously Eddie," Steve continued "After everything we've been though together I wouldn't just call us friends," he pauses not being able to find the rights words but continues an-way "I'd call friends for life!"
Eddie suddenly looks up at Steve silent as Eddie feels his stomach do flips. Steve considered Eddie his friend! Not just his friends but his friend for life! Eddie had no idea how to fucking respond to that. He just stands there and watches as Steve babels on about how he hopes he's not crossing any boundaries. Usually it hurts to be friend zoned but god did it feel good for once.
"Don't sweat it Harrington," Eddie says with a huge smile "I just wanted to make sure were on the same page."
(Pov Steve/Third person)
"Same page?" Steve asked as he felt a blush creep up his neck.
Did Eddie think Steve had a crush on him?! Did he have a crush on Eddie?! Of course not, Eddies just a friend. Well a very, very hot friend but a friend no the least. God why did it hurt to think of Eddie as just a friend? *Snap Snap* Steve looked at the origin of the noise, Eddie's fingers.
"Hey Harrington, did you hear me?" Eddie asked concerned.
"Um no sorry," Steve stuttered "What did ya say man?"
God pull your self together Harrington!
"Well I said I'm not very good with the reading people thing so I wasn't sure if you considered me a friend or not." Eddie said well glancing in between Steve and Robin and Nancy's fading figures.
"Oh," Steve exclaimed in relief.
Eddie looked at him and throw Steve one of his goofy grins and said "Now that that's out of the way shall we continue on our quest for weapons Malady?" giving Steve a mock bow.
"Yes we shall good sir." Steve replied with a smirk.
