Lights flickered on the second floor and I could hear the anxious murmur of the people upstairs as they are awoken by the barking of the watchdog. I cursed and bolted out of the door into the night.
I ran nonstop, my feet slapping the cobble road below me. I breathed in the clear night air. The streets were all dark and empty and the sky was alit with stars. I smiled. I really love Cerise. The city is so beautiful with its shops and homes. I slowed to a walk, taking in the sights that I never get tired of.
I stiffen, thinking that I heard something from behind me. I whirled around. There was nothing on the streets. I was alone. I breathed a sigh of relief. Then I felt a thud against my head and my head exploded in pain. And all was pitch-black.
