Unexpected Love

Chapter 21

Layla POV

"Hi can I get a French vanilla ice coffee with almond milk and whip cream" the worker took down my order. Today I've decided to get out of the house, so I took Sage with me to get some clothes and obviously some coffee. "Okay your total will be $5.95" I paid for the coffee then went to go wait.

"Layla?" I heard someone say my name, I turned to see my ex girlfriend from high school. She's part of the reason I have moved away. Nora treated me bad in a way but I've learned to forgive her. We were young and 'in love'. She was my everything during that time until I ran away senior year. I've never seen or spoken to her since.

"Wow you look so different" she said eyeing me up and down. "So do you" I replied before going to grab my coffee. I went over to a table sitting down while locking Sage's stroller. "Is this seat taken?" Nora asked with a flirty voice. I shook my head watching as she sat across from me. I felt her stare at me for a while but removed her eyes when I looked back. "Who's baby?" I shifted in my seat at the question "mine" I simply answered.

"Where's the father" I turned to seeing the hurt written on her face "mother" I corrected her "and not that it's any of your business but she's at work" Nora nodded her head taking a sip of her drink.

We sat and talked for a while catching up on each other. I've told her about Sage and my life so far, while she informed me that she moved over here working as an EMT.  If I'm being honest I missed talking to Nora. She was my escape during a time period of my life. We had a very toxic relationship but despite the toxic times we've had great times also.

That's what kept me from leaving her. The good would sometimes out weigh the bad. Nora was telling me about one of her many hospitals stories "oh god I don't know how you deal with people like that" I laughed at the story. She watched me with a smirk and it was that same smirk I fell for back in freshman year. "Oh no...don't give me that face" I said pointing at the way she started to smile.

"I'm sorry I just missed being around you...I know I didn't treat you the best but I still liked being around you so shoot me if I'm enjoying my time with you" she spoke leaning on the table. "Well I missed talking to you too...I have to get my baby in the house soon so why don't you come back" I suggested gathering all my stuff. "Yeah fuck it why not" she shrugged her shoulders getting up to help me with my bags and leaving the cafe.

I opened the door to my apartment letting her walk in first "oh who's this?" Kia asked walking up to me and Nora. Removing Sage from her stroller I handed her to Kia "oh um this is an old friend from high school" Kia nodded her head and started a conversation with Nora.

"Nora?" Aaliyah said in disbelief. I stood there confused that she remembered who Nora is. "Aaliyah" Nora said back opening her arms. Aaliyah ran into her arms as they rocked back and forth hugging each other. Kia turned to me with a confused look while I returned the same.

"Wait you guys know each other?" Kia asked with a little jealousy laced in her voice. "Yeah I kept in contact with Aaliyah after I heard about Layla leaving" I wasn't sure how I felt about Aaliyah and Nora keeping in contact. "I actually found out you were here after reaching out to Aaliyah a few days ago" I raised my eyebrows in shock at the information. "Wait you told her I lived here" I turned to Aaliyah. "Well yeah one day we were texting and she mentioned that she was moving in this area so I told her you did too" she said it as if it was no big deal.

"Why didn't you say anything to me first?" I stepped closer to her growing mad at the fact that she thought it was no big deal. "Well I'm glad she told me because now we can start over".

Is she dead ass?

I know I told her about Me and Raye.

"Start over as friends and nothing more" Aaliyah still stood next to Nora and all I wanted to do was smack the shit out of her. "Well I have to get going, I'll see you around Layla" she walked out and Kia locked the door behind her. I still stood there stuck on stupid.

Grabbing Sage I put her in my room before walking back out "so let me get this straight...you kept in contact with me ex girlfriend then proceeded to tell her where I live?" I spoke in disbelief. Aaliyah sat there on the couch staring at me. "I don't see the big deal" she spoke with an attitude "the big deal is that you're telling people where I am and where the fuck I live" I yelled out at Aaliyah. "It's not like you don't know her".

This bitch is stupid.

"It doesn't matter...you still don't go around telling people where I live...you come to me first and that's just common sense" I'm not understanding why she's not getting that through her head "Well I like Nora more than I like Raye"

Wait a damn minute

"I don't give a fuck who you don't like shawty" Aaliyah started to stand up so I walked closer, but before I could Kia came in between us "okay stop just walk away" she spoke pushing my chest. "I bet you don't even know who Raye is" I paused and looked at Aaliyah "Lia stop" Kia yelled.

"What the fuck are you talking about" Aaliyah started to smirk "you heard me...ask her who she really is or maybe you can ask Kia since she's the one who told me" Kia held a guilty face mouthing stop at Aaliyah.

"Kia what the fuck is she talking about" her mouth was opening and closing like a fish, stuttering on her words "you know what...fuck both of you" I spoke lowly not even recognizing my own voice "and you...you gotta get the fuck out by tonight go stay with Nora since you like being on her dick" I said pointing to Aaliyah. Kia tried to change my mind but I was far too mad to hear anything she had to say.
