A/N
Warning for character death and blood. Also just angst in general. Lots of angst.

Thanks to Ossa for the title and for editing my collage into a proper cover!

Raph watched his grandmother that he'd only known a few short hours fall, dead on the ground. He couldn't believe it. She was dead and it was all Raph's fault. He was the biggest brother and leader. It was his job to protect everyone and he couldn't.

"RAPH!" Mikey screamed behind him.

But maybe he could protect those he had left.

He turned around, only for his breath to catch in his throat. His baby siblings were all covered in blood and the puddle was only growing. Mikey was looking at him, terrified, hands pressed into Leo's stomach, using his and Donnie's masks. Donnie had Leo's head on their lap, pressing their forehead against Leo's, whispering comfort to their twin, shaking with silent sobs.

For just a moment, Raph was frozen by the sight.

A roar from the beast behind him snapped him out of it. He had to protect them, get them somewhere safe, get Leo some help.

Raph ran and he grabbed Donnie and Mikey, pulling them off Leo, despite their protests. Mikey settled on his shell, screaming as the puddle grows faster than before, and Raph secured Donnie over his shoulder. He used his free arm to cradle Leo, trying to press his fingers into the bandanas and slow the bleeding, but he knew it wasn't working.

Raph ran, feeling the rubble on his shoulders and hearing the ceiling fall, not having time to properly secure his grip on Leo. He felt the blood drip down his arm and he couldn't make himself look down, terrified of what he would see. Mikey was screaming and sobbing into his neck and Donnie wouldn't stop moving and Raph needed to get them out.

Dad and Draxum were already in the garage, their eyes wide as they looked at the kids.

"Everyone in the tank!" he yelled, reluctantly giving Leo up to Donnie to secure inside, forcing a cry of pain from his little brother's mouth.

"Blue," Dad gasped out, looking at his eldest son's distressed and guilty face, forcing himself to ask, "Karai?"

Raph clenched his fist, feeling the pipe water soak the bloodied wrappings. He turned from the tank and stood in the entrance, feeling his lip quiver and his eyes water. His dad fell to the ground, mourning, and Raph wanted to comfort him. His dad had just found an older member of his Clan and lost them all in one go.

Raph didn't get the chance.

"We're not leaving without you two!" Raph yelled because he can't lose anyone else.

"Raphael," his father said sternly, "As long as there are Hamato, there is hope."

Raph felt the tears spring to life, but blinked them away, determined. He had to trust his dad.

"Todd," he said, jaw trembling as he made the hardest decision possible as a leader, "Get us out of here."

Raph looked back, watching his younger siblings. One good thing to come out of this situation was that Mikey was too busy tending to Leo and hadn't realised what had happened yet.

Raph hated himself for thinking that.

"How could you?"

Raph looked behind him at Donnie.

"How could you just drive away and leave Papa?" Donnie asked, voice dangerous.
