Hi, my name is Chloe Slater, I am a 17-year-old werewolf from the Opel Moon Pack in Ontario, Canada. My father is Alpha Corvan Slater. Every day, people tell me how much I look like my mother, Luna Coral Slater, with my long black hair and blue eyes. Half the pack thought we were twins. My brother Wyatt will one day take over the Alpha position. As for me, I am like every other 17-year-old girl waiting to get her wolf and find her mate. But till the time comes, there are training, school, and pack duties for me.
“ OK, everyone training is done for today, hit the showers and off to school," said our head trainer Stan
“Chloe, can I see you for a moment”? He asks
Great, what did I do this time?
“Chloe, you are still going too hard on your partners. No one wants to partner with you if you keep hurting them”
“It is not my fault. I am the Alpha’s daughter with Alpha Blood. If I fight below my skill, that is not training me at my full potential” I say
“I do not know what to do with you anymore Chloe, you never listen, you continue to hurt everyone," he says,
“Tell you what then. Stan, I will just stop coming to training. Then, problem solved", I turned to walk away.
“Hold it right there Chloe, you know the rules. Training is mandatory-you have to train” says Stan.
“Oh, I will train, just not with you and your weak ass kids, I will train with my brother.” I started walking away again.
“Chloe you can not… Chloe get back here” Stan yells to me, but I ignore him and keep walking to the house to shower.
How can he even expect me, the Alpha's daughter, to go easy on them? It is not my fault. I am a female Alpha.
I finish my shower dress, do my hair and makeup, and run down to breakfast.
“Good morning mom, and Wyatt,” I said, taking my seat at the table.
“Good morning, dear,” says my mom
“Where is Daddy”? I ask
“Stan wanted to talk to dad, so he is in his office” my brother Wyatt answered.
Oh, great, now I will have to deal with daddy too. Man, Stan sucks. I thought to myself.
“I am just going to get a bagel and go meet up with April,” I said, reaching for a bagel.
“ OK, that is fine, see you at dinner then, have a good day in school," my mother says.
I got my bagel and ran out the door to meet my best friend April. She is a few months older than me, so she is eighteen already and has gotten her wolf. I have another 7 months to go. She was lucky. She found her mate, Tommy Ross, the son of Stan.
“April!” I said, walking up to her.
“Oh, hey Chloe she asks
“I came to meet you like always,” I said.
“Oh, umm Chloe, I am going to ride with Tommy today, he just went to get his backpack," April says.
“Oh, I see. Well, then have fun. I guess I will see you at school.”
“Yeah, about that," she says.
“Let me guess you are sitting with Tommy and his goof-off friends now instead of your best friend since kindergarten.” I cut her off
“Well, I have a mate now, Chloe, you will understand when you find your mate," she says.
“Wow, 3 days ago you both hated each other. Now this, I can tell you one thing, April, if it was me who found her mate, I would never forget about my best friend, because just because I had a mate”, I say
I turn and walk away towards the car my parents bought for me when I turned sixteen last year.
My tires kicked up rocks everywhere as I sped out of the driveway.
When I get to school, I am not even out of my car fully before the rest of my friends are greeting me. At least they remember me.
When April and Tommy pulled up and our friends tried to greet her, she acted like she did not even know the rest of our friends. She turned her back on all of us for her mate and his group of failing dumbbells. Even when we were in our lockers at the same time or in three out of four classes together, she acted the same way towards me. Well, so much for best friends. I thought to myself
At lunchtime, I grab my lunch and make my way to our normal group table. April was at the jock cheerleader table now. But that did not stop my friends and me from having our normal fun lunch hour.
“I do not think April is having much fun with her new friends over there" my friend Aaron whispers to our table.
“Well, that is too bad for her,” I said.
" She chose to sit there and act like she did not know us,” I said.
“Chloe is right guys. I, for one, am pissed off and hurt she would do that to all of us after finding her mate. Aaron and I did not do that to any of our friends,” said Jessica, Aaron’s mate.
“That is because I joined your group babe,” said Aaron.
“If I remember right? our groups of friends just became all friends, because that is what loyal friends and awesome people do, they do not just treat their friends like shit,” said Jessica.
At the end of the day, I was saying goodbye to all my friends and heading to my locker when I saw April leaning against her locker.
“Oh, hey Chloe," April said as I stopped to open my locker next to hers.
"Tommy has to stay for football practice and I have to work. Do you think you can give me a ride?" she asks
“Oh, I am sorry. Do I know you?” I ask
“Oh, come on Chloe, do not be like that."
“April, you are the one to talk, we have been best friends since we were 3 years old, then you find your mate and me and the rest of our friends are nothing to you, " I said.
"You acted like you were better than us."
“I have to be with Tommy and his friends Chloe, it is how mates are,” she says.
“No, April it is not. Others stay friends with their friends even after getting together, but you? No, you do not."
“Fine OK, Tommy and his friends do not like you or the rest of the guys. OK Hello? Chloe, they do not even like me, they just tolerate me because I am Tommy’s Mate”, she says.
“Well, isn’t that a shame, you have a mate and no friends?” I shut my locker door and walked towards the parking lot doors.
“Wait! What about the ride?” She asks
“Take the bus bitch, only my friends ride in my car,” I said.
I walk out of school and to my car. Other than Tommy’s and the rest of the football team's cars, the parking lot is empty. I start my car and look up; April is walking towards the bus stop crying. I started to feel bad for her and what I said, but then I remember how she hurt me and treated me and our friends today.
She needs to feel how she made us feel. I say to myself
I pull out of the parking lot not even looking at her as I pass by her heading home.
When I headed into the house, I was greeted by my brother Wyatt.
“Did you really just leave April behind?" he asked me.
“yes,” I said
“Wow, why? You too are like the same person, always together. Why would you leave her?” he asks.
I filled my brother in about everything that had happened starting right from early this morning.
“Wow, yes I would have probably left her ass there too, that was so uncool of her," Wyatt says
“Yep, that is why I left her to fend for herself," I said.
“Oh, by the way, before I forget, dad wants to see you in his office right away," he says.
Great more shit. What now? I say to myself
I grab a bottle of water out of the fridge and head down the hall to the Alpha's office.
!KNOCK KNOCK!
“COME IN” my father's deep voice came from the other side of the door.
I opened the door and walked-in closing the door behind me.
“Hello sweetheart, come in and take a seat," he said.
"How was your day?” he asks.
“The pits,” I told him with a frown.
“Oh? and why is that?” he asks.
Like I did with Wyatt, I filled my dad in on what April did to me and my friends today.
“Well, that wasn’t very nice or right of her to do that now, was it? He speaks
" I shall speak to her about the matter."
“No, no father? Just let it be if that is how she is going to be, then so be it, she can deal with not having any friends then” I said.
“Very well then, my dear, I will let it go for now," he said.
" But now about why I called you here?”
Here we go, in trouble again. I thought to myself
“Stan came to see me this morning. It seems you are not listening to him and were even rude to him, this morning again”, dad says.
“Dad, it is not…
“Let me finish, Chloe, it seems we have this conversation every week. You hurt all the other kids during training, then you get rude to Stan. I told you not to be rude. Stan is your trainer. You do as he says.”
“ That is not fair dad, this is crap,” I said.
“I beg your pardon? Do not speak that way to me” says my father.
“I am an Alpha female dad, the Alphas' daughter. It is not my fault, I am faster, stronger, and more skilled than any of them. I should not have to be in that group of wolves, dad. I get rude, only because Stan is rude and mean to me, and not to mention what he orders me to do." I said.
" Want does he order you to do?" dad asks
" Oh, Stan has not told you what he orders me to do?” I asked.
“I do not follow Chloe, are you not in the warrior Alpha class with the betas deltas and Gamma’s children?” father asks.
“Yes, father, I am, but they're weak, and Stan wants me to undertrain, he wants me to only block and fight like a level one. I will not do it, father, I will not.”
“Chloe Stan says no one wants to partner with you because they do not stand a chance against you, you hurt them," he says.
“Again, dad, I am the daughter of the Alpha. I will not train under my potential. What would be the point of training if I held back? I can not hold back if I am attacked by rouges father"
" What do you expect to do than Chloe?" he asks.
"Let me train with the more advanced wolves’ father like Wyatt”, I speak up
“You do not have your wolf to train yet, Chloe, you can not shift and fight," he says.
“So, then train me in human form to fight a wolf. I want to grow strong and improve my skills. I must do so with all my strength, father, not hold back and be weak because others are not as strong as I am”, I say.
“Fine, fine, very well than Chole you win, I will inform Stan you are no longer in his training class. You are to report to the advanced wolves’ class in the morning with your brother. I will inform Trainer Diego that you will be joining them starting tomorrow."
“Thank you, father,” I said with a smile on my face.
“Chloe?"
“Yes, father?”
“No more trouble please,” he said.
“Sorry, I can not promise that Alpha, I am the Alpha's daughter. After all, I do not take orders well," I said, getting to my feet and heading for the door.
As I walked out of the office, I heard my father say.
“What am I going to do with that girl?"
I smiled to myself.
"Just let me grow and be who I am father," I say.
" I want to be strong, not weak."
I guess I should have been honest with my father too about training. You see, Diego and I have been training together since I was 10 years old. We never told anyone about it because he was worried he would get in trouble for training a young she-wolf. I used to sneak out and go watch the warriors train and practice, but one night Diego caught me. He was fifteen at the time, training to be a warrior. I asked him to teach me what he was learning, and he agreed. Every night since then, we have met up and trained. For 2 years now, we have been training together in secret. He trained me to fight with weapons last year. I am good too.
If I were to ever get attacked, I wanted to be ready and prepared for it. I wanted to make sure I at least stood a chance of living.
