It began with the low buzz of the soft orange streetlights, glowing in the midnight sky. I opened my eyes to a dark winding alley. I had no recollection of how I had gotten here. I ached everywhere, almost unable to move. I reached up to touch my forehead, as it ached more than all else. As my fingers caressed my forehead, I felt something wet, though it was so dark I couldn't see what it was. In an effort to find out what had happened, i put my hands on the cold ground trying to stand. I stumbled to my feet, quickly putting a hand on the wall to help myself gain balance. I started shuffling towards the bright lights of the street. My eyes slowly got used to the brightness, as I slowly exited the alleyway. Everything looked normal, cars driving by or stopped at a stoplight, there were people mingling by the bars and cafés. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, i decided to sit down at the bus stop to head back to my house. I remembered who I was and where I lived, but not whatever had happened to me, or what I was even doing out here. I checked my pocket to see if I had my phone on me, and surprisingly I actually had it. It was ten minutes past midnight. What could I have possibly been doing out here this late? Was I out with friends, or coming back from a house party? Nothing popped up in my head so I went to text my friends to see if I was possibly out with them. I texted Sam first, because she was my best friend and was always up this late. "Sam Judd" her name on my phone, and just above it was a picture of us wearing stupid party hats. We took that photo on the day of her 21st birthday, I think that night I saw the most shit-faced person anyone could see. As I thought about the photo I had already texted Sam asking if we had hung out earlier or if I had been at any party that she knew of. I waited for her response, trying to distract myself from my throbbing head. Just then the bus stopped, I stood up excitedly, ready to be home again. The bus driver gave me a frightened look as he saw me. "What on Earth happened to you?!" He questioned. Sadly I had no idea but I had to think of something quick. "Oh, um I just got jumped by a few girls, it's nothing haha, just girl drama!" I exclaimed nervously. I gave him a reassuring smile to convince him that it was "just a fight" and somehow it managed to work. I took a seat near the front, so I wouldn't have to be seen by many people. I used to ride this bus to my university, before I had gotten a car, so I knew it would take me to my apartment. We reached a couple of the others stops before mine, which they all looked at me whilst getting off of the bus. Rude much? I didn't really think to much of it I just wished to be home. The bus finally stopped at my stop. I got up slowly and started walking towards the door. The bus driver stopped me and asked, "Are you sure you're okay?" I assured him that I was fine, and got off the bus. I hurried towards the apartment entrance. The elevator had been broken for about a week now so I had to run up the stairs. I was out of breath by the time i had reached my floor, so i walked the rest of the way to my apartment. I grabbed my keychain which I always keep clipped onto my pants, and unlocked the door. I did what I always do and threw my coat onto the floor and kicked off my shoes, but they were both covered in blood. What the fuck happened? I rushed to the bathroom to look in the mirror. I was covered in cuts, bruises, and blood.
