JUNO PUSHED OPEN THE FRONT DOOR, stepping inside her house.

It was silent, but she knew Steve was home. She'd seen his car parked out front.

"Steve!" She called, walking toward the stairs. Slowly, she made her way up to Steve's room. His door was closed.

After knocking on the door twice, she put her cheek up to it to try and listen inside.

"Steve! I've got some of your favourite chocolates. If you don't claim them in the next minute I'm very willing to eat them myself."

There was no reply.

She pushed the door open and the sound of Steve's muffled cries became distinct. He was lying on his bed, his face buried in his pillow and his covers wrapped around his shoulders.

"Steve?" She whispered, taking a step closer to him. "What's wrong?"

He didn't get up, but he turned his face to look at her, keeping the side of his face pressed into his pillow.

"I don't. . . I don't think Nancy loves me." He muttered, more tears filling his eyes.

Juno dropped her bag of candy by the door. She went over to Steve's bed, crouching down in front of him. "What happened?"

Steve shook his head lightly. "Everything's bullshit. Our whole relationship was bullshit. I'm bullshit. It's all just. . . bullshit."

Juno shifted onto her knees before turning to rest her back against the base of Steve's bed. "You're not bullshit, Steve. A jackass? Most definitely. But you're not bullshit."

A small chuckle escaped Steve's lips, and he propped his head up on his elbow, bringing his hand up to dry his eyes. "Nancy got drunk. I told her to slow down and ended up spilling a drink on her. One thing led to another and well. . . either she's really honest when drunk or everything she told me was bullshit too." He sniffed.

Nodding along to Steve's words, Juno thought about Nancy. She and the older teen were close. They had been even before Steve started dating her - seeing as Nancy tutored Juno when she was eight. She knew the girl fairly well, so it came as a bit of a shock to hear that she had called her brother bullshit and gotten drunk at a Halloween party.

"I'm sure she didn't mean it," Juno assured, fiddling with a loose thread on her dress.

Steve trailed his hand over his face. "Yeah." He mumbled, leaning forward to sit up.

The siblings sat in silence for a minute. Steve stared at the wall opposite him and Juno rested her face on the top of her knees. Her eyes hovered over Steve's collection of awards and medals, which hung above his dresser. They were mostly for basketball, track running, and baseball, with the occasional effort and attitude medal, and a very large amount of most valuable player awards.
