Nicole's P.O.V

I made it to the outsidefield at the back of the school just before 4:30. After the run in with Jess, I stopped by at my locker to make sure that I locked my locker tight. It's my birthday tomorrow and I DON'T want to have what happened last year.

Last year, there was a huge card that all of my friends have signed. There were streamers coming out of my locker so that you could almost see them a mile out. At my first period, Math, on the whiteboard there was bubble letters that spelled out:

Happy 16th Birthday, Nicole! You are the Best!

I got to say, that was impressive. All through the day, those words had to stay on the whiteboard because who ever wrote it wrote it in sharpie! The next day after my birthday, we fond out that my math teacher wrote it!

My teachers were always doing me favors because I was an A-plus student that never did anything bad...In the classrooms. Thank gosh that they don't know what happens in the hallways and out of schools. If the teachers knew what happened, I don't think they'll think of me as a "nice" person.

I look around the field and see a lot of people I see every day at school.

Most of these people are playing soccer either for fun, or to practice to make it onto another team. For me, this is just for fun and to see if I can actually play soccer good at all.

I start walking up to Arundel's coach, Mr. Bosniak..

"Hey, Mr. Bosniak? When are we going to start?" I ask.

"In about...right now, actually! Listen up everybody! Crowd around me so you can here!"

All the students try to find space so they can see Mr. Bosniak.

" Now, what we are going to do is play a 50 minute game. I'll observe everyone and tell you if you should try out for a soccer team or not. This is a FRIENDLY match, so please no name calling and our 2 refs,-" Mr. Bosniak points to two middle aged men that are wearing black and white striped shirts, "Will be looking out for who is playing the game correctly or not. Remember, have fun!"

Mr. Bosniak starts giving out pennies for one team. He also tells the kids what position they are playing.

" And Nicole, you are playing right offence. Do you know where that is?" He asks with a worried expression. He probably thinks that I have no idea how to play. Oh, I'll prove him that with all the books I have been reading about soccer will pay off.

"Of course I do. I wouldn't have come here if I didn't know the positions."

Mr. Bosniak gestures toward the field. "Okay, then git, skedaddle, disburse!! Everybody get into your position!"

All the people that are playing get on the field and start streching before we start.

One of the reffs blow the whistles. Everybody is in motion. I look around and see that one of the poeple  on my team is passing me the ball.

Oh no, what am I going to do!! Do I run with it or pass it...?

I do the thing that came naturaly, I started sprinting down the field. One defender comes up to me and tries to take the ball.

                                ohh, no you don't!!

I do a quick scissors move around the first one. By know, my whole team is cheering and yelling.

While the other defender that i already pass gets back into position, supporting the third defender, I pass the second defender with a quick change of direction.

"You got this, Nicole!" I hear some people calling. "Keep going!"

The third defender comes up, looking like the most serius player. I start runing toward the goal. The defender and me are runing side by side, running with equal speed. I notice that I am running to one of the end corners.

There is NO way that i can get a goal right now and i don't want to be a ballhhog so...

I step on the ball, stopping the ball to go any further while the defender runs right passed me. She was running too fast to stop. I look around and see a girl, waving her hands in the air, yelling to pass it to her. I pass the ball to her and she shoots. The goalie jumps for the ball, but the ball goes in anyways.

"Goal!!! Goal!!!" Everyone sreams and cheers, except the other team. When I walk back into my team's side of the field, everybody is giving me patts on the back, even the other team.

Is it just me, or does Mr. Bosniak look ready to pass out...
