Chapter 3: Jeffrey
"Jeff! There you are! Where were you?" Brad walks towards me to bro-hug me. I hug him back and clap him on the shoulder. Brad is my best buddy in here, we met in the third week I was here.
I was looking around the library to sit anywhere quiet, when I saw him looking through the books in the very left shelf. He is small and has black hair. I saw only his left side of his face so I couldn't notice the big scar that's on the right side.
When I saw him I couldn't believe how a small, cute-looking guy like him got in jail. I got really curious and he was the first person who seemed normal. So I tried...
"Hey, uh I'm Jeffrey. Do you see a book you like?" I asked a little nervous. Brad turned around and gave me a glare, what says something like 'Why are you talking to me?'. A small shriek left my lips before I put a hand over my mouth. Brad's scar is from above his eyebrow, through his right eye all to the right corner of his mouth.
I restored myself and tried to introduce myself, even though Brad didn't seem like he was interested in making new friends. Or maybe the big, terrifying scar was to blame.
After I introduced myself, Brad finally started to talk. He introduced himself too and we started to talk about random things. Brad asked me to sit with him and his friends and now I'm here, in the "normal group".
"This morning at work, I heared my boss scream because his lamp was shattered. He thought it was my fault." I chuckle "So I made it clear to him I didn't break it." Brad gives me the knowing look and we walk towards our table.
"Hey guys, did something special happen today?" I say just loud enough that everybody who has to hear it, can hear it. Almost everybody shake their head, like always... But today Nick nodded.
"Yes" Nick says with a mysterious grin. That's weird, usually there is no special news, only news about the gross lunch we got for the day.
It's not that gross, but my friends are real critics at that...
We all turn our heads to Nick. "You see that empty table over there?" We look at the direction Nick's finger is pointing at. He points at the only empty table in the room, next to the table of the artists.
We all nod. "That table is going to be filled with a bunch of hot ladies in about five minutes, I guess"
I raise my eyebrows and give him a questioned look. The others are as confused as I am."How could you know that? huh? There aren't any hot ladies in here, only freaks. And if they're new we should know that too." Brad looks at Nick with his arms crossed over his chest, he doesn't believe him.
Neither do I.
"You'll find out soon" Nick says with a cocky smirk. Brad shrugs and begin to talk about other random stuff.
I'm talking along with them, but I can't help myself from peeking over my shoulder at the door every once in awhile.
