The two of them are curled up on Alex's bed together as they watch the movie on Netflix. The popcorn is eaten in between them, both having finished half of their drinks while watching the movie.

Anastasia sits up when the credits start rolling across the screen, and turns around to look at Alex, "I'm surprised you haven't asked me to go home yet. I feel like I'm intruding . . ."

"No, please stay!" Alex says, moving closer so that his back rests against the side of the bed, and he stares at the girl in front of him almost desperately. "It would be really boring sitting alone in the dark. And besides, you're not being a bother." He continues looking directly into her eyes.

Anastasia looks down at the ground for a moment before speaking again. "I mean... I don't mind staying here. If you want." She smiles softly. Alex's heart flutters in anticipation.

"Of course! What kind of friend would I be if I let you leave?" He laughs loudly, then moves over just enough so that his arm is thrown casually over her shoulder. Her eyes widen slightly as he brushes his thumb lightly along her cheek. "And I can always tell you more embarrassing stories about my friends at school. Or you could tell me how your brother was when he was little?"

"He loved Disney movies," Anastasia replies quickly, smiling slightly. "And I love them too. So we have loads of those movies."

A few minutes later, Anastasia asks Alex, "So what did you think? Wasn't it better than some random horror movie you've seen on the internet?"

"Yeah, it wasn't bad at all!" Alex replies excitedly. "It was just a little weird because this is the first we've hung out, just you and me, without Karl . . . You know?"

She nods. "Yeah, I know." Anastasia turns her head to meet his gaze, and there's silence for a few seconds before she leans forward and places a gentle kiss on Alex's cheek. She slowly pulls away from him, and stands. "Well, I should probably get going now... I still need to pick up some things for my brother tonight."

She picks up her purse from where it's lying on the floor, and turns to leave. Before she can make it to the door, Alex stops her. He grabs her hand gently, pulling her body back towards him. He takes a breath, and closes his eyes.

He hugs her tight.

She stands there, dumbfounded for a moment, before leaning into the hug. It feels nice, warm and comforting; she likes that. After a few seconds he lets go, and she goes to turn towards the door. He sighs, watching her leave, and he feels almost safe in the ghost of her warmth.
