It was my fifth day in school and I could say I was slowly adapting to the school environment. I even took myself to school today. After lectures on Monday, Jason had shown me where I had to go to board a bus that was headed directly to where his family house was located. He had moved out of the house and back to his self contain which was at a place really close to the school campus.

I shivered as the early morning breeze kissed the bare skin of my arms. I was regretting wearing a sleeveless top already. Maybe I would have just come along with my sweater. But it was already too late to regret. I was miles away from home.

"Fine girl, passport?" I heard one of the guys who normally have fixed posts where they took passport photographs say.

I shaked my head sideways at the man and continued walking towards Ofrima. How do they even get to school so early in the morning? Maybe they stayed around the school environment.

"Hi!" I heard a voice say besides me. I looked at my side to see a tall figure having a small smile on his face.

"Hi," I responded with a small wave of my hand.

"You are Amarachi's friend right? I saw you together on Monday," the guy spoke in an eloquent voice.

"We actually just met on that Monday," I tried to explain. Calling Amarachi and I friends sounded too sudden to me.

"Oh really. That's cool. I'm Joseph, and also a course mate of yours."

"Nice to meet you," I said as we walked past a snack store that was just opening their doors for the day.

"So what's your name?" Joseph asked.

"I'm Torera."

"Your name is so sweet to pronounce. Or maybe it's just the way it sounds from you," Joseph flirted.

"Thank you," I smiled.

We both walked into Ofrima building.
I stopped walking when we stepped in.

Joseph also stopped when he saw me stop. "You know where the lecture is holding, right?"

"The College Hall," I said. Was it changed? That's what I saw on the timetable.

"It's just opposite us." Joseph pointed at the other side of the four-cornered building. There was a field taking the shape of the quadrangle in the middle of the building.

"We can use here." Joseph pointed to his right hand side where a walkway was leading to the other side of the building.

"Thanks. I wasn't sure of the location of the lecture hall," I said.

"I'm happy that I could help." Joseph smiled. We walked side by side.

"Did you also do the pre-degree program?" I asked. Joseph looked as confident about his surroundings as Amarachi when I met her.

"Yes, I did."

"Oh. No wonders you know about Amarachi."

"Yeah. We attended the same tutorial class." Joseph laughed. "At least everyone who attended the same tutorial with us should know Amarachi. She was famous for always asking when tutorials will be closing. Especially  on days when our tutor was taking extra time."

I laughed at what Joseph said. Amarachi did look like someone who would say something like that. She appeared that carefree. To think that I'll be spending more time with her since my parents had agreed on us finding a place to stay together. Mom was a little bit concerned when I asked her about getting a place to stay with someone else, but she became more open to the idea when I told her Amarachi was also a medical student.
