I was seated in an air-conditioned room but I could still feel the sudden heat emanating from underneath my skin. The fact that this was the second time I was visiting my school's, or should I say school to be website did nothing to help with my anxiety.

About five minutes ago, I stepped into the house after being out to get my body cream that just got finished, only to come back to meet my immediate sister, Chika, telling me that my auntie who lived at Portharcourt just called my parents to tell them the University of Portharcourt just admitted a second batch of students for the next academic year.

My dad was presently seated at my right hand side, hands across his chest. My mom was at my left, her hand resting on her chin, while Chika and my brother Dami were peeping from behind us.

"What are you waiting for, Torera? Click on the admission status na," my dad said from besides me. I could feel the impatience in his stern voice.

"Take it easy Dear. She is just anxious," Mom said to Dad. She definitely understood what I was experiencing at the moment.

Dad threw his hands up.  "What is there is what will be there so no need of wasting time."

"What if it's the same, "admission in review," like the last time, Daddy?"

"Don't worry. I have a strong feeling that the story will change this time around."

I know my dad said that to make me feel better but honestly, I was still very anxious.

"It must o.  All my prayers will not be in vain at all. Plus fasting too. The devil is a liar," Mom chipped in.

I palmed my face as I couldn't take the already building pressure anymore. "I can't. Someone should tap it for me please." I sounded like a baby but I didn't mind.

Dad chuckled. "This girl, you are such a character." I felt his hands brush mine as he stretched his hands to move the laptop from the center to his side of the table.

"Alright. This is it." Dad said. I could hear Mom muttering some words of prayer to herself now.

"My God!"

I opened my eyes on hearing my dad say those words. I leaned towards him to see the screen for myself. It was only then I understood why he screamed. Before me were the words I've prayed and worked hard for years. It was a confirmation that my dream of becoming a medical doctor was achievable.

I knew I would never forget that moment. I knew it would always make the top list of my best memories in life.

"Congratulations Olatorera Nwachukwu. You have been admitted to study Medicine and Surgery, a six years course, in the University of Portharcourt," my younger brother read out the words out to the hearing of everyone. It was then I realized that Mom had already started singing and dancing around the sitting room.

"My God has done it for me o. He has brought shame to the devil," she said in an ecstatic voice. "He has given me a doctor."

I felt she was moving too fast with the last statement though but the happiness I was feeling within me couldn't even allow me comment on that at the moment.

"Ah! Chineke! My daughter has gotten admission to study medicine o! This calls for celebration," Dad said while I just couldn't help but smile broadly.

This was indeed a dream come true. I got my admission, just when I was already losing hope. Why wouldn't I? When I know how competitive to get into Medicine and Surgery is. Everybody wants to become a medical doctor these days.

"Dami, go and bring the Eva wine that is in the fridge," Mom said to my brother who wasted no time running off to the kitchen.

"Congratulations my beautiful and brilliant daughter. You just made me so proud. If I couldn't study medicine at least my daughter will," Dad said and Mom and I laughed. Dad had said before that he earlier wanted to study medicine, but after getting rejected three times, he gave up and went for engineering instead.
