( FAST ENOUGH )
ii. the hotel obsidianOne of the few perks that came with being a speedster was the accelerated healing. The molecules in June's body moved at a faster rate, mending her injuries far quicker and more efficiently than normal humans. Without treatment, most wounds healed in less than a day with no lingering side effects.
Regardless, Sloane had insisted on treating her sister's wound. She knew the gash would heal on its own accord, but the glass shards embedded in June's forearm had to be physically removed.
"I have to clean the wound first," Sloane stated matter-of-factly. She slipped on a pair of disposable gloves and snapped open the first-aid kit. She rummaged through it, pulling out antibiotic ointment, a roll of gauze, and a splinter tweezer.
"Go ahead," June heaved a sigh, leaning back in her seat. She didn't have the energy to argue with Sloane. Their battle with the Umbrella Academy, particularly with their Number Five, had exhausted her. Additionally, the blood loss from her injury had made her lightheaded (which didn't pair well with her growing hunger, despite the fact that she ate an hour ago). Her eyelids drooped slightly, but she fought to stay awake.
Sloane sat down in the chair across from June. She carefully rolled up the sleeve of her now torn and blood soaked blazer to assess the injury. The laceration stretched across her arm, all the way to the crease of her elbow. Dry blood crusted around the edges of the gash, and small splinters of glass had lodged themselves into her flesh. Sloane grimaced slightly. Either June had an incredible pain tolerance or the adrenaline had yet to wear off.
She grabbed a clean washcloth from the sink and ran it under the faucet. She wrung it out before tenderly wiping it across June's skin. The speedster breathed out a sigh of relief. The water was a cool contrast to the burning pain in her forearm.
"So," Sloane started as she lightly dabbed at her sister's arm. "Who did you end up fighting?"
"Five," June answered, and Sloane cocked an eyebrow at the unfamiliar and somewhat odd name. "That jumpy guy, the one who teleports?"
Her face lit up in recognition. "Oh, I remember him now!" She exclaimed. "Is he the one who gave you that bruise?" She pointed her finger to the purple spot that had blossomed on her forehead.
"Oh, no. That was me." June shook her head, snorting at the memory. "I head-butted him after kneeing him in the crotch."
"Ouch!" Sloane's face tightened in a wince. "You're ruthless, June."
June lifted her shoulder in a half shrug. She immediately regretted her actions, wincing as her wound flared up. "Well, he deserved it," She spoke through gritted teeth. "Him and his family broke into our house, claimed it to be theirs, and then trashed it!"
