The shrill sound of the alarm blared throughout the Sparrow Academy. June heaved a frustrated sigh, shutting her book and placing it on her nightstand.

"It was just starting to get good," The brunette grumbled, begrudgingly standing up from her bed. She didn't know who or what had interrupted her reading, but she would be sure to eliminate them quickly. She sped over to her closet, changing out of her lounge wear and into her uniform in less than three seconds.

June smiled proudly, readjusting the small bumblebee broach clipped to her blazer. Her abilities as a speedster never failed to impress her, even after possessing her power for nearly thirty years.

"Come on, June!" Jayme called out. She stopped by her bedroom, leaning against the doorframe. She gave June her infamous sarcastic smile. "Time to go stop some evildoers."

"How exciting," June replied in an equally sarcastic tone. If she was being honest, she felt a little underwhelmed. Missions had become tedious when they all consisted of the same thing: weak enemies that were easy to defeat. For once, she'd like an opponent that didn't cower in fear at the sight of her and her siblings. The speedster wanted a fight in which she and her opponent were equally matched in strength, but she knew it was wishful thinking.

After all, no such enemy could possibly exist. They were the Sparrow Academy, New York's best crime deterrent. Nobody was a match for them.

"Do you know what this is about?" June asked, turning to her vanity. She reached over, grabbing her hairbrush and running it through her dark brown locks. If she was going to fight, she'd look good doing it. After all, appearances were important, especially since she and the Sparrows were often in the public eye.

Jayme shrugged, eyeing her sister as she fixed her hair. Unlike her, she didn't care much about her appearance nor the media attention. "No idea," She said. "But it's probably just another robbery or something."

And the police can't handle that? June thought, rolling her eyes in annoyance. She knew it was her duty to serve and protect civilians, but surely, the police could handle a mere robbery. Unsurprisingly, it seemed like it would be another boring mission for the Sparrows.

Hearing commotion downstairs, she and Jayme glanced towards the source of the sound. The voices were increasing in both volume and hysteria.

June turned to her sister with an impish grin. Upon seeing her expression, Jayme immediately shook her head. "No, don't—!"

"Race you downstairs!" She challenged her. Before Jayme could object, her sister was already gone. All that was left of her was a gush of wind, which caused Jayme's hair to go flying into her face. She huffed in irritation, blowing a strand of black hair out of her face.
