Sitting against her girlfriend’s desk, Kate chats softly with Lucy as the pair discuss their latest case. Hearing the elevator, the pair look up watching a child no more than 8 walks into the office, escorted by another officer. ‘This child has something to do with your case.’ The officer, who Kate identifies as Officer Quinn, states, leading the child into the bullpen. ‘The missing lieutenant and her husband.’ Nodding, both Lucy and Kate stand from the desk. ‘مرحبا فتاة حلوة.’ Kate says, moving to kneel in front of the child, who looks shocked to hear Arabic coming from someone other than family. ‘I’m Kate and this is Lucy.’ Kate introduces, with a soft smile.
Smiling shyly, the small child waves. ‘مرحبًا ، أخبرتني والدتي أن أعطيك هذا.’ The small child states, handing Kate a letter. Watching as Kate moves away from the child to read the letter, Lucy steps forward. Crutching in front of the child, she smiles softly. ‘مرحبا يا فتاة حلوة ، هل يمكنني أن أحضر لك أي شيء؟ شيء للشرب أو الأكل؟’ Lucy asks, watching as the child nods. ‘هل يمكنني الحصول على المعكرونة والجبن بالماء؟’ She answers, moving to take Lucy’s hand. Smiling softly, Lucy stands, leading the child into the break room, where Jane usually has Mac and Cheese for her own kids. ‘هل تعرفين اللغة الإنجليزية أيتها الفتاة الحلوة؟’ She asks as they enter the room. She nods, looking up at Lucy. ‘Yes, I do. I like the fact that you and Kate know Arabic.’ Lucy nods as she sets about making the meal for the child.
A quiet knock on the glass door causes both Lucy and the small girl to look at the door. ‘Farah?’ Kate asks, bending down to the young brunette's level. ‘That’s me.’ Farah states, nodding. Kate smiles softly, looking over Farah’s shoulder as Lucy struggles to reach the top shelf. ‘Need a hand, Tara?’ Kate giggles as she stands, moving behind Lucy, grabbing the packet of mac and cheese down for her girlfriend. ‘What did the letter say?’ Lucy asks, watching Kate, gaze at Farah. ‘You can read it, while you make lunch. I’ll go grab Farah some paper and markers.’ Kate states, handing the letter over to Lucy. ‘How about we go grab you some colouring?’ Kate asks Farah who nods, following Kate out of the break room and back to Lucy’s desk.

While waiting for the water to boil, Lucy reads over the letter, pulling out her phone and sending a quick text to Ernie with the name of the lieutenant’s brother. As she stirs the mac and cheese, she blows on the meal to cool it down as she grabs the child a cold glass of water.
‘Luce?’ is called from the door. ‘Hey Tennant, what’s up?’ She asks, turning to face her boss and friend. ‘I heard we have a little visitor in the bullpen. Is she the daughter of our missing lieutenant?’ Tennant asks, moving into the room, watching Lucy making sure the meal wasn’t too hot. ‘She is. I haven’t gotten to asking her how she got here yet.’ Lucy states, setting the meal on the table alongside the glass of water. ‘How is she holding up?’ Jane asks, moving to stand next to Lucy. ‘She’s mostly okay, she has hope that her parents will be returned to her. We have a name of the potential unsub who took the Lieutenant. I’ve sent the name to Ernie.’ Lucy answers, earning a nod from Jane.
‘Social Services will have to be called.’ Lucy nods, pouting slightly. ‘Would it be safe?’ Lucy asks, watching as Kate and Farah laugh at her desk. ‘I don’t know, Luce. It might be safer, until this case is closed, to keep her with one of us.’ Jane states, watching Lucy’s eyes wander back to her girlfriend and the child. ‘I agree with that. Who should it be?’ Lucy asks, pulling her eyes away from the child. ‘It seems she’s taken a liking to you and Kate. Get the paperwork in order for temporary custody, before you call Social Services.’ Jane states as she moves to leave. ‘She’ll probably be best off with you and Kate.’ She adds, just as the two others make their way towards them.

‘Your mac and cheese is ready for you, Farah. I need to talk to Kate outside for a moment.’ She waits for Farah to nod, before exiting the breakroom and closing the door. ‘Tennant knows she’s here. Said we should call social services, but also said that Farah has taken to the pair of us, and it might be a good idea if she stays with one of us. Tennant also agreed that it might be the safest option. I didn’t agree to anything, I didn't want to without talking to you first.’ Lucy rants, before taking a deep breath. ‘Tennant also said to get the paperwork in order for temporary custody before calling.’ She finishes looking over at Kate. ‘I agree with Tennant. She has taken to both of us. It’s probably also safer for Farah if she’s with an agent. So if you want to get the paperwork sorted, we’ll look after her.’ Kate states, moving to pull Lucy into her arms.
Wrapping her arms around Kate, Lucy sighs, moving her head so she can watch Farah. ‘Okay, first thing, whose house are we putting down?’ Lucy asks, tilting her head to look at Kate. ‘Considering you spend more time at my place, probably mine?’ Kate asks, to which Lucy nods. ‘I’ll go get the paperwork sorted, if you want to keep the little one company, and see what you can find out? Who dropped her off, how long has she been alone?’ Lucy asks, smiling as Kate places a kiss to her lips quickly before nodding. ‘We’ll figure this all out.’ Kate states, entering the break room. Lucy stands at the door, watching as Farah smiles at Kate, before waving to Lucy through the window. Waving back with a smile, Lucy walks over to her desk to get the paperwork started.
