"Imran,"
And it was none other than my mother. Wow, that rhymed. I groan in response flipping over to my back.
"You need to get up, chote miya." She says.
"Mummyyyyyy, I just came home from work." I say, throwing an arm over my eyes to shield them from the lights that mummy flips on. "5 minutes bhi nahi hue hunge meko bed pe lete. Aur, bhook ki to hadh nahi hai, utni lagri."
"Aur mat karo sehri."
That had me crack an eye open. "Aysa kaun bole ke sehri achi kare to aapko iftaar tak book nahi lagti?"
"Behes ke mood me main bilkul nahi hoon, Imran." Her voice took a stern flip causing me to groan again. "Chalo, utho. Masjid jao. Iftar karwana hai."
"Mummy! Its not even time for iftar yet."
"You are yet to buy stuff. It's not like everything is ready."
"Abbah!!!" I huff and puff kicking the duet off me and sitting upright against the bed head and rubbing my eyes.
"You up?" Mummy asks for the final time, standing in my doorway. I nod in response, moving to stand on my feet and stretch. "10 minutes." She says before walking away.
I drag my tired body which weighed more than a ton into the bathroom and definitely take more than just 10 minutes to freshen up and put on fresh pair of kurta and jeans. On my way downstairs, I ring Talha and ask him to meet me in five.
"Main bhi iftar baher karru." I announce to the people sitting on the couch.
"Haan, haan, karlo. It's not like kuch khaas banra ghar me." Bhaiya mumbled.
A chuckle leaves my mouth as I slip my feet into the chappal and grab the keys to my ride off the hook. I yell a loud 'Allah Hafiz' before shutting the door behind me.
Swiftly ambling towards my 'baby', I start the engine and drive in the direction of Talha's house.
"Mashallah, aapki punctuality ka koi jawab nahi hai." My best friend praises me, just as I come to a stop at the gates of his house only to find him stepping out.
(Mashallah, you're punctuality leaves me stunned.)
"Imran Abdullah ka bhi koi jawab nahi. Kiya karsakte ab," I sass back, motioning for him to hop on. He does so without a question and we hit the road again
"Are you fasting?" I ask him.
"Yes. Unfortunately, I don't get periods to miss my fast."
I snort at his response and so does he before inquiring. "Where are we going?"
