I took a look at Anubis' wing, and I let out a sigh of relief upon finding out it's very likely not broken, rather sprained, meaning he definitely couldn't fly, but it was better than compeltely broken at least. I decided to instead take care of him, until he was ready to fly.-----𝚂𝚠𝚎𝚎𝚝 𝙼𝚎𝚕𝚘𝚍𝚒𝚎𝚜-----
Over the next few days, I would feed him a fresh basket of fish each day, I would bring him two buckets of water, one to drink from if it hadn't rained that day and the other to wash him with and clean his scales from the scum he may have accumulated from the caves.
Of course this wasn't ideal, but it was the best I could do for now until he was healthy and able to fly himself out, or at least until I could figure out an alternative way to get him out. Over the next few days, he made it clear to me that he trusted me enough to allow me to touch him and that quickly turned into comfortability and before long he was comfortable enough to sleep around me, even during baths.
It allowed me to see a side of dragons I never fully saw before, the gentle (and lazy) side that likes chin scratches, being sang to and playing hide and seek. It made me realize how similar to us dragons are and just how "human" they can actually be.
On the sixth day. I made my way into the caves where Anubis was stuck, a fresh basket of fish on my back and two sizeable buckets of water. I arrived at the sort-of cenote and made sure not to spill the buckets as I carefully climbed down.
I had barely set down the buckets and
fish when a particularly excitable
yellow dragon was shoving his snout into my chest, causing me to let out an 'oof' sound. "Someone is happy to see me, eh?" I teased, which earned, me a face full of slobber. I frowned, "Yeah, I shoud've expected that" he made a sound scarily close to a guffaw.I spent another hour or so with him before I left. I flopped down onto my makeshift bed when I got home, muscles aching and completely exhausted from all the work. Alas, it didn't last. A high pitched yet bellowing roar could be heard, one I was recently familiarized with. I rushed to the window and peeked through the plants, I narrowed my eyes to see easier in the sun, and a group of 5 dragon's flew overhead.
They blotted out a lot of the sun, specifically the black-as-night Night Fury, now sporting a vague silhoette of a skinny viking with messy brown hair. I assumed that this was the same group of dragon trainers that i'd saved a week earlier from Anubis, based on the dragons they were riding.
"Anubis" I gasped. They must have come back to either take revenge or make him one of their own, and I was absolutely not gonna let that happen. I noticed that they are flying towards the cliffs where Anubis'
caves were located, so I rushed to follow them. What made me wonder is that they seemed to know exactly where to go to find him. Someone wouldn't know that unless they had been there before, I deduced. I didn't find the will to scowl at the thought, instead I focused my attention on making sure I didn't lose the flock of dragons of ahead.

I scrambled my way up the cliffs when I got there as the dragon riders had already passed and landed overhead.
I pulled myself over the last ledge and
pushed forward, when I heard the sound of chatter ahead. I hid behind a boulder and tilted my head just enough to see past it, even though my hair lightly fell in front of my eyes.I was right in my assumtion that it was the same group from before with the addition of the skinnier boy, who seemed to be their leader of some sort. What was his name again? Harald? No, or was it Horan... Hiccar, Hicciss, Hiccup! That's it, Hiccup!
He observed the cave entrance (still blocked) and turned back to his group. He said something inaudible to his group, before the two twins and the zippleback blew open the mouth of the cave, I gaped in surprise.
It took me too long to close my mouth and get over it and because of this, I tripped slightly. I darted behind the boulder and held my breath, hoping that hey wouldn't find me. "you guys hear that?" a deep somewhat nazally voice said.
"Hear what? Snotlout?" Hiccup said quite exasperated.
"...Nothing. Nevermind." he responded, and Hiccup sighed again, clearly annoyed.
"Ok, whatever, let's just Find this Death Song" I knew it! they're after Anubis. After the footsteps faded I rushed to where i know the opening of the cenote would be.
When I got there, I sighed in relief, realising I beat them to it, but I didn't let myself dwell on it and looked for Anubis, quickly finding him sleeping in the corner, content. I whisted low to try to wake him up, but to no avail, so I resorted to throwing small pebbles at him.
After a minute of this, he awoke and growled at whatever was above him so I took a minute to calm him down and warn him of the intruders coming. He stopped growling when his eyes adjusted and he saw it was only me.
I dropped down and he caught me on his tail, setting me down while I caught my breath.
"You need to leave big guy" I whispered after a moment. "They might take you or hunt you, I can't have that happen, okay?" I told him with a frown. He made a confused sound and the sad complexion of his eyes told me he didn't want to leave me behind.
I heard a girly scream echo throughout the cave, which I assumed belongs to that Snotout lad, or perhaps Fishlegs, and the Death Song's growling restarted as he took a step in front of me protectively.
"Anubis, you need to leave, now." I said. He'd gotten more used to the Norse over the week he'd been here.
He glared at me. "Your wing is almost
healed. You need to leave." I repeated sternly. His face, softened and then he nuzzled me lightly. "I'll be fine boy, they won't be hurt me, I swear" I promised, placing a hand on his snout. I placed my forehead
against his nose before patting him on the
jaw, he licked me gently then flew out
of the hole in the ceiling. I watched him go, then took a deep breath before I climbed out myself through the narrow passageway i'd used the past week.Another one thank you 💅
hope you like it!
