There the two were. Racing one another to the ancient oak that sat comfortably near the edge of the river. Joyous laughter endlessly spilled from their mouths like the water that trickled down the stream. Careful not to crush any of the vibrant blossoms, Shinsou took the lead in their race, causing his ocean eyed lover to pick up the pace, despite the burning feeling that arose in his chest. He'd made some snarky remarks about how much faster he was earlier in the day. The boys had even placed a bet, the reward for the winner being nothing material.
Neito flashed his partner a toothy grin. "You know, if we raced, I'd totally win. I'm much quicker on my feet than you are."
"That so?"
"It is so." He smirked playfully. "I bet I could beat you to the old oak tree. Y'know, the one in the flower field we always go to?"
"Like I'd let that happen."
Monoma was cocky and confident then. But now? He was anything but. He was shorter, sure, but those two inches Shinsou had on him shouldn't have allowed such a distance between the two.
It didn't matter, though. This was a win-win situation. Whether Neito won or lost, he'd be getting a reward for his efforts.
In just a few minutes, Shinsou reached the towering tree, his fingertips brushed against the rough bark that blanketed the trunk. He had no clue that he left Monoma in the dust. Honestly, the male thought the other was right on his heels. A triumphant smirk slowly creeped its way onto the lavender haired boy's lips as he peeked over his shoulder at his boyfriend, who was a good fifteen feet behind still.
"Oh, come on, Neito!" He chuckled. "I thought you were gonna beat me!" Another chuckle.
"Shut up!" The blond called back through broken gasps.
With a few final steps toward his partner, Neito allowed himself to collapse into the lush grass below his feet, completely ignoring any remark the champion above him sent his way. However, what happened next could not be ignored, no matter how much the shorter male tried. Hitoshi had flopped down in the grass beside him, one arm lazily draped over his boyfriend. Baby blue orbs shifted from the leaves above their heads over to the left where Hitoshi was laying.
Nothing could ever compare to the mauve-haired male. He was truly the most exquisite being on the face of the Earth. His eyes were like pools of lilac, so unbelievably easy to drown in. Neito could've gotten lost in them forever. That is, until his admiration was interrupted by a gravelly voice that seemed to snap him back to reality.
"Am I gonna get that prize or what?"
"You cheated."
"Cheated? How so?" Hitoshi smirked.
"I don't know- But you cheated. Therefore, you get no reward."
Without another word, Shinsou rolled over, practically on top of Monoma. Yet he didn't put all his weight down, not wanting to crush the petite boy.
"I'm taking my prize. I earned it fair and square, doll." He murmured.
After that, their lips seemed to fit together like puzzle pieces. Puzzles that were manufactured just for each other. The kiss didn't last more than a few seconds, though. Instead, Hitoshi pressed peck after peck to his lover's lips, stealing several kisses from him. That was the reward for his victory. All the kisses he could ever want.
As the last few kisses were pressed to Neito's soft lips, a faint smile made its way onto his face. His arms found their way around his partner's neck, rested against his shoulders to keep him in place. No matter how much Monoma had said he wouldn't give up the kisses, they both knew he was lying. He was a sucker for smooches, after all.
The two of them sat up after a minute longer, Shinsou's fingers finding daffodil hair. Monoma's hair was tousled and contained a few stray flower petals that had once danced in the breeze. The blue hue of the petals brought attention to his matching eyes, eyes that Shinsou could gaze into forever if Neito let him. They were like puddles on a rainy day. And Hitoshi couldn't help but want to dive into them. The sunlight that trickled through the oak leaves overhead left speckles of light on Neito's face, like glowing freckles. He was handcrafted from stardust, Shinsou thought. The most beautiful boy on the planet. He was ethereal.
Hitoshi's usually grumbling voice was almost a whisper as the pad of his thumb dragged along Neito's bottom lip. "You know how much I love you, right, Nei?"
"Of course I do. You make sure to remind me once every hour." He smiled sweetly.
"Good. I wouldn't want you to forget."
"I won't forget. Not ever."
