Chapter 27:: It's alright

Author's POV: 

"A mission?" You asked as Taehyung nodded, putting ammo in his gun. You gulped, staring at the weapons in front of you. You had nothing to do at the moment, your phone was charging as well. So, you were roaming around until you were told that Taehyung and Jo were going out on a mission. 
"What mission is this?" You asked Taehyung who said, "Just Joel's men."
"Is Joel the only enemy you have?" Your question made Taehyung look at you. 
"No." He said, shaking his head. 

"What do mafias do actually? Just go on missions?" You asked. Jo, preparing the weapons shook his head and walked past you. 
"No. It's not just about missions and killing. We have certain goals and in this world, the obstacles are more so we have to fight our way towards the goal. These missions are a part of the journey. A way of removing some obstacles." 
"Oh. So what is your mission, today? You found Joel?" You asked. Taehyung shook his head.

"Joel's men are here hiding in a base. They are the last few men who survived that day. We will kill them off so Joel becomes powerless. We suspect that Joel might be there. If not, then we can confirm that Joel is hiding somewhere far out of our reach." You nodded at Jo's statement.
"Enmity is strong.." 
"It's not just about enmity, honestly. We also have much more stuff related to this. It's really important." 

"Stuff I'm not allowed to know?" You asked in a low voice, more like asked yourself. Taehyung looked at you, his deep brown eyes meeting your azure blue ones. 
Looking down, he nodded and continued preparing the weapons.

"So... the men who are training outside are also going?" You asked. Jo hummed and said, "You should be safe in the house but in case, anything happens in the house... you should hide in this basement. It's out of reach."
"Alright." You said and looked around. Taehyung glanced at your figure walking around the room, checking out the weapons. You slightly touched a gun to check if it was real and gasped a little, then checked some more and examined them. He noticed every action of yours and shook his head, trying to focus back on the weapons.

But the innocence in your face when you were examining the weapons, the way your guard was entirely down as you were encountering a whole new world—nothing went unnoticed by him. It was times like this when the wall between you both was down. When it felt like this was normal, this situation made sense. It was the only time when you weren't kidnapper-kidnapped but two people in the same room, forgetting the dark truth behind the entire situation. 

You looked at them and said, "Is this mission risky..?
"It is, but not much," Jo answered. You nodded and looked at them. Soon, they were done as Taehyung spoke, "We're ready. Let's go." 

You followed them to the lobby of the house. The front door of the house was in front of you. They all checked themselves as the men were preparing themselves. 
"So, take care Ms Y/N," Jo said as you nodded, smiling a little. As they were about to leave, you spoke, "Hey... umm, it's not because of any friendly thing or whatsoever... I just really hate Joel as well so... good luck taking his men and him down. I hope you'll win this time." 
The awkwardness in your voice was too obvious but you were wishing them good luck. You saw Taehyung look at you. Jo thanked you and smiled, leaving along with the men but Taehyung stood in front of the front door. 

His lips slightly curved upward. Both sides. 

For the first ever time. You could see a very tiny curve on his lips. His eyes crinkled barely as he said, "We'll win." 

You could sense the sense of cheerfulness in his voice. The slight positivity and confidence in his voice. You could sense it. You gulped and nodded, waving at him as he turned around, his deep voice echoing, "Don't try to escape. You can't. Stay here safely."
