First Taehyung and Jungkook noticed in Scotland was that...
IT WAS FREAKING COLD!!
Korea definitely was more merciful for their citizens!
They were scared and tired (after a 19 hours flight through half of the globe) to the point, the curiosity or excitement of experiencing a new place and culture, couldn't get through it.
If, after they left the plane, they would have to deal with the transport from the airport to the city, getting to know how the communication is working there, where to buy freaking tickets, was it better to use the bus or cab, and all other basic things... - They would surely just sit in the middle of the airport and regret all life decisions.
Every simple detail - was scary.
But thankfully - they didn't have to solve all of it by themselves just after reaching Glasgow. Taehyung's father's friend picked them up and delivered them safely to the dormitories.
But even if this part went smoothly there was a lot to take in for both boys. Dealing with all the formalities, getting to know the University and Dormitory rules. Suddenly switching to depend on themselves with basic things like food making, grocery shopping, laundry, controlling their budgets...
Not to mention the heavy Scottish accent was far from the English they've learned! There even were people that talked in old Scottish language that were absolutely not understandable for them...
With cultural differences Taehyung also met where he didn't expect to...
Coffee was important to him. It was his fuel. The Godly Drink that allowed him to use his brain on a higher level... And having a hard time finding a place where he could buy coffee in the morning, or encountering surprised glares when he asked for a coffee instead of tea, when he finally found one...
Well Tae wasn't happy about it...
But they had each other... They found solace in being together. Taehyung was a comforting place where Jungkook could rest, as much as Jungkook was a comforting place where Taehyung could hide. They could be vulnerable, helpless and in Kook's words "stupid and embrassing". They could complain without restraint to each other about all the new things they found annoying in this new place. Whine how hard it is! And encourage each other... As being in the same both it was easy to understand one another.
Well...
That's what they thought at first...
But after the classes started... and as time was passing by...
They for sure understood that having sleepovers in Tae's house (If Jungkook barging in randomly could be considered a sleepover...) and living with someone was entirely different...
And they learned it hard way...
For example, like at the time Taehyung woke up in the middle of the night absolutely terrified, because of unexpected noises and rustling. Being woken up in the darkness wasn't something he liked... Especially not in a place he wasn't used to yet...
Their dormitory room had an attached kitchen, washroom, study area and two beds. The light was coming from the kitchen so he calmed down a bit and got up, sleepily rubbing his forehead.
What if this brat casually injured himself in a fight again? He thought worried and walked to the kitchen, squinting his eyes because of the light.
He stood in a door frame just to see Jungkook making a total mess on the kitchen top, spreading an unhealthy amount of mayonnaise on the bred with one hand, while the other reached inside the cookies box, took a fist full of it and stuffed his mouth. He was humming happily under his nose.
