Rose
Kiran rubbed a hand over his stubbles after he handed me a shirt I could wear to sleep in. He had no shorts that would fit me, so it was useless to even try them on. But at least I had a shirt to wear, right?
His bedroom was a little bigger than I had thought, though he didn't have a lot of furniture in here. Just a few half-cupboards, his enormous bed with a nightstand on each side. He had two armchairs in here, with a little round table between them. A bookshelf behind them. And that was about it.
Not even a picture or some art was on his walls. They were blank, making me long to decorate them.
And everything was so damn dark in here. Dark walls, dark flooring, dark furniture. Even his bedding was dark.
His clothes were in a separate room, but of course they would be. If you're as rich as he was, you, too, would have a walk-in closet... or rather a whole ass dressing room. I wondered where he would put my clothes once they got here by tomorrow.
"Kiran?" I said, yet I turned away from him so he wouldn't be able to look at my naked torso when I slid off my dress to put on his t-shirt.
"I don't think I have a smaller shirt."
I chuckled. I liked how thoughtful he was. That he cared even when he could have had me as anything he wanted instead. I knew in today's society things weren't handled the way the were back in the days. My father, however, he didn't get the memo and raised me to obey any man.
I hated rules, I loved to thrive on my own, which were none at all. It is why I was grateful Kiran respected my decisions. I tried to be obedient, tried to leave decisions up to him, but he threw them right back at me.
God, I had choices with him, and it felt great to have them. Perhaps this marriage wasn't going to be all torture only.
"I don't need another shirt," I said, then pulled the fabric down over my body before I turned back around to look at him. The shirt covered me up right down to my knees, kind of like I just put on another dress. Though far less tight. "I was just wondering where my clothes will be. I have a few."
"I'll have half my closet be cleaned out. If that's not enough, I guess I will have to have one of my guest rooms be turned into an extra clothes room for you."
My eyebrows raised at one specific word. "Guest rooms? I thought you didn't have any."
He shrugged, kept a sheepish smile on his lips. "You really think I turned five extra rooms into anything other than bedrooms?"
"Maybe you needed a library?"
He laughed. "I have one."
"And you read those books in it?"
Kiran nodded. "Don't tell anyone though."
I wasn't exactly listening because while he was talking, he was also unbuttoning his shirt. If he noticed me staring, he didn't say.
It was kind of sad how exciting this was for me. Having a man so close to me. It didn't have to be sexual for me to be excited. I was scared and nervous, sure, but my excitement took the upper hand.
Kiran was to be mine. I had no idea where our relationship would go. If we would find a way to live without hating the other, or if we would end up like my parents did. But either way, he was committed to me.
Little Rose would have jumped with joy if she knew.
"Kiran?"
"Rose?" He walked around the bed, laid down his wristwatch on the nightstand.
