Hissssss!

Bump, Bump!

Is this thing even working at this point?

Woosh.

CRASH!

Ah jeez, gotta be more careful with this thing.

Bang, Bang... Boom

Skreeee!

That vault door better hold.

POUND!

Whatever, gotta focus.

SLAM!

Beat it!

Hoooo.

Ok, I'm ready.

Ahem.

My name is Cleatus. D. Jones, to anyone listening to this, this is not an admission of failure, nor is it a proclamation of success, it is simply a statement of the facts.

Plink, plink, plink, plink.

SLAM, SLAM, SPLAT!

As you can likely tell from the audio in this recording, things have gotten pretty bad, so I would like to preface this by addressing my family.

Plak.

Shuffle, shuffle.

Bump.

Slip.

Martha, my wife, at the time I'm recording this I can't confirm whether or not you are alive but, in the slim chance that you are able to hear this I want you to know, I never once thought it would come to this, all I can say now is, I'm sorry.

SLAM, SLAM, SLAM

Leave me be!

Fisher, my son, if my preparations have worked then you'll be spared from all this, although, I'm not sure you'll even remember me or your mother, all I can ask of you is that you finish what I started.

Hissssss bump bump hisssss.

Now for the truth, you may not believe it, you may not accept it, I don't care, and at this rate I don't think anyone else does either. The true nature of the guild is that it's not from our world, from what I've found I believe the guild to be an extra dimensional force or being that has arrived in our timeline for some unknown reason, I don't know what.

Shuffle.

SHIFT, click, CRASH.

Huff huff huff

Head's playing tricks on me

PLACK

Shuffle shuffle

Basically the way the guild works is that it arrives in a dimension and inserts itself into the timeline so it doesn't arouse suspicion, so you could think the guild's been around for centuries when in reality it's only been around for a few weeks. After that the guild gets to work rounding up magic users who refuse to comply with their rule, even small stuff like having a magical item they don't want you to can have them come after you. And as they go about this, inevitably someone goes snooping and figures them out so they have to hop over to a new dimension and start all over again, leaving the place they came from as some sort of apocalyptic wasteland.

Rumble, rumble

Something's happening.

Crack.

This time around the US government didn't like having their toes stepped on by the guild, so they sent me in to do an investigation, look where that left me, bleeding out in a vault while the world ends around me and my guilder wife having probably been executed for insubordination, at least my son's getting away from this.

Henry stood up from the recorder, his back still turned to the creature. "Now you have seen the truth, the knowledge you've wished for has been granted, and now you shall take this power and complete your roll in the cycle." The creature spoke with a heightened sense of urgency as it held out the glowing orb.

Henry turned to look at the creature and simply replied. "No, I don't think I will." The creature growled in anger before shouting. "This is not your choice to make! You wish to tell me that you would pass up the opportunity to become a god! You could rule over an entire dimension with none to challenge you, but instead to reject the only chance you will ever be given. The word of a dead man from another world changes nothing, with this power you could make a billion families, all joyful and without flaw! That corpse has no control over you, nothing does!" As the creature spoke, pain suddenly shot through its entire body as Henry snapped his fingers. "You're clearly not human, but you can still feel pain, so here's something you should know. The parasite in my chest allows me to grow plants out of my own body, and as it turns out I can also manage fungi with a little effort. So now I have my own proposition, you use that power yourself and leave my dimension at once."

"I REFUSE!" The creature screamed while gnashing its teeth. "Allright, then accept this, from one parasite to another." With that, Henry snapped his fingers and a colossal mushroom burst forth from the creature's chest, sending it stumbling back onto the ground. As the creature fell onto its back the space around it and Henry changed back to the forest from before, the bark from the trees peeling off, exposing metal pipes connecting the floor with the now visible ceiling. On the floor the creature began crawling towards the throne as the orb burned it's hand, but before the creature could reach it Henry smashed the throne into pieces with the branches from his wooden claw.

"One of your henchmen by the name of Solomon let it slip that I was a sacrifice, not some new leader for the guild, guess you and him weren't exactly on the same page. Sure I don't know the full truth yet but I assume that you aren't exactly the honest type." Henry said as he stood over the creature, the orb now burning it's hand with its immense power. "You don't know anything about what you are doing, I can not die, you can not kill me, I am the guild and the guild is eternal." the creature hissed as it attempted to stand again. "Maybe, but I don't have to kill you to get rid of you." Henry said as he turned away from the creature and the ceiling above them began to crumble. "Besides, you can't keep holding onto that orb without burning up, or letting this machine fall apart, either way I'm leaving." As the creature's arm caught fire it looked up to Henry as he climbed up one of the pipes towards a hole that had opened up in the ceiling, and as Henry climbed out the creature let out a scream as ethereal fire consumed its body and transported the remains to another dimension.
