We'll Meet Again - Vera Lynn
We'll Meet Again, Don't know where, Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again
Some sunny day—— —— —— —— —— ——
The Devourer was done for, gone back to its original state, ashes. It has officially left everyone at peace, leaving Ninjago alone for one could hope eternity.
The city was destroyed, indeed, but their hope for a rebuilt couldn't be shattered. Evil will come again, someday, but as what the citizens thoughts of it, it was safe to go back to normal life.
They threw a huge celebration in the, what was about to be, the new city. They hanged decorations here and there. Swept the floor to put on makeshift tables and chairs. They used some extra rations and drinks to offer to whoever came.
Thanks to the community as its whole, the Ninjago City citizens could throw one of its biggest party. Everyone from close by participated.
All in favor of Lord Garmadon and the group of Ninjas.
Thought, the said fighters were all but feeling like celebrating. Lloyd sighed, a saddened look overcoming his features. "I just wish Eden could see this right now." The name itself was enough to twist some stomachs.
A hand patted the kid's head, "We all do." The ninjas looked down with empathy, all feeling as if the celebration wasn't even worth it. However, Kai pipped in before anything gets gloomier. "Let's make a deal."
Lloyd hummed. "We stay for the sake of the people here, then, when we are home, we can do some sort of Eden honoring?" The idea was what could be soothing everyone at the moment. They were gone for a while, missed way too much. Yet the pain would only amplify as the days went on.
The blond kid managed to grin a bit, he shook hand with Kai. "Deal."
Some people called onto the group, offering family friendly punch. They all accepted, even if it felt wrong doing so.
--
Cole and Lloyd stayed back together, watching as people had changed from freestyle dancing to a slow. The atmosphere had changed for a rather pleasent, slow adrenaline. The cheers calmed down, the kids were almost all gone sleeping since they were drained.
The celebration did take a tack on people's energy.
Cole laughed quietly as he gulped down some more punch. "Bet they would have hated it." Seen as a joke, the child could see some regret and pain behind it. He himself felt remorse throughout the whole festival moment.
"Maybe complain?" Lloyd tried to lighten up. The ravenette nodded, "But I think they would have forced you to dance." They both chuckled at the imaginary scene making up in their head. The boy agreed, swatting away Cole's pointing finger off, "Yeah and blackmail me later."
He mimicked a pose of what he could muster from said person. He held out an invisible camera using his fingers to form a rectangle. The eart ninja shook his head, chuckling at the sight.
Just for a moment, thinking about the green head didn't bring negativity, but nostalgia. They both felt their presence throught their own words, imagine a scenario of them goofing around, without actually admitting it either.
Just for a moment, it felt as if they weren't completely gone.
But, as quick as it took the boys to witness this happy sharing, it faded into a pit of regrets.
Lloyd leaned back onto some crates, crossing his arms. "I miss them." Cole heard a small sniffle coming from the kid beside him, feeling also guilty. He patted the boy's head reassuringly, "I miss them too, but we'll learn to live with them in our heart." The convincing lie that wanted to be the truth, but they had to live with it.
