Everything stays - Olivia Olson

Everything stays right where you left it
Everything stays but it still changes
Ever so slightly, daily and nightly
In little ways, when everything stays

—— —— —— —— —— ——

Coughing at the sand thrown in their direction, an unknown person cursed bitterly at their own state. They groaned, holding their head in an attempt to ease the coming headache.

Once they could open their eyes without the sun rays hurting, the young adult looked around. They were surrounded by, clear blue water in front, weirdly comfortable sand where they sat and an overwhelming forest behind them.

Two questions formed after the analysis. 'Where am I?' While this one was an obvious way to question themself, the latter took time to take in. It was as if they never even imagined to ask themself this, but here they were.

'Uuh, who am I?'

A small thing tingled a finger. Looking down, a small insect crawled up, but if looked closely, looked like it was harmless. "Hey little friend, might know where I am?" The person chuckled at their own stupidity. Rolling their eyes to express sarcasm, they let the insect fly to its own discovery of the world.

The green head already had their little share of existential crisis.

--

Days later, the green head had tried to minimize their travel. Occasionally fished with a handmade fishing rode, made a hammock out of stranded sheets or whatever they could get their hands on.

They knew that it was hard work, but getting lost in an unknown place was the worse idea they could do. The person promised themself that one day they will discover this unknown world, when they'll be fully prepared.

The green head would find themself occasionally stare at their reflection, the insecure feeling of stealing someone's life crept up behind their back. At any given opportunity, they would feel as if they were depriving the last owner's of their original life.

Accidently, they tripped onto a pebble, somehow it was always the smallest obstacles that were the deadliest. "I should really at least trip in understandable things." They snickered, dusting themself off.

Perfectly standing still after a moment, they walked up to the sea, looking at the reflection. They knew that it was acting as a mirror, yet the more the young adult stared at the makeshift mirror, they couldn't see themself. The water showed another person, while they felt as if they just borrowed a body.

Sadly, they could stare longer, nothing would come up. A flying boat with loud people made sure that the small moment was torn apart by their loudness. The green head groaned, but quickly stumbled at the sight of said ship.

'Okay, either I'm dead or this world is fucked up.' Sweat rolled down the person's temple.

However, even if the people in the strange vehicule were the most aggravating sailors/pilots on earth, the green head couldn't help but be curious about the boat. They needed to know why the combination of a ship and boat, also maybe find something to do.

They cracked a bamboo to use as a staff, eyes glinting mischievously at the weapon. "I guess it couldn't hurt?" They hummed aloud, started to run after the flying boat and get a good view.

"Island oh! Set the ship!" One yelled, the person wondered if they were either spotter or captain. Either way, they hid themself behind trees. Surprisingly, they found a way to get up on a tree branch with incredible stealth. 'I'm probably just light on my feet.' They shrugged it off by shaking their head, looking back at the action below.
