Asha, Finn and Daisy walked for twenty minutes, although it felt longer because the three teens couldn't stop bickering, and the sun was heating up the air, making it stuffy in their outfits. Luckily the wind was biting cold, which offered ample relief to the threesome.
Asha gripped the map Max had given her, she'd taken charge, and under her guidance, they were on the right track. The next village wasn't far, but anxiety still pulled at her heart like a relentless violinist. Sunny had given them all the equipment they needed to syphon petrol from cars and a roll of bin bags in case they got lucky with finding supplies. All they needed to do was get to the village in one piece. A tough obstacle to say the least.
"I'm gonna be so fucked off if I die with you two," Daisy moaned out loud as she marched between Asha and Finn. She had a heavy step, not one bit graceful.
"Why do you have to think so negatively all the time?" Asha questioned, shooting a glare her way, not that she could see it.
"I expect the worst, then nothing can disappoint me," Daisy shrugged.
"Seems like you're disappointed all the time," Finn joined in.
"Whatever, you should be too. Have you taken a look around lately, Finnegan? It's kind of the end of the world."
"My name's not Finnegan. Why do people keep fucking calling me that?" Finn complained, quickening his step to walk ahead of the girls.
"And he calls me moody," Daisy mumbled, letting out a sigh of exasperation.
"I mean, shit, he's not had it easy these past couple of days," Asha said, thinking about all the grief he had encountered since they found him. "Besides, it's not the end of the world. We're going to get out of this. You heard Max. Harbour is real and we're gonna get there."
"I don't trust all that," Daisy huffed.
"What are you talking about?" Asha questioned.
"It's pretty convenient that Max's walkies got trashed by a Hunter. You'd think he'd carry an extra spare if it was so important," she paused. "He has guns, I mean, who the fuck has guns? It's England. And don't even get me started on the fact that there's 'no boats' to get to Harbour. We just have to wait for this particular one... I'm just saying, he could be a Reaper. King of the Reapers or something. He's got the talk, the weapons and the look. Just think about it. He could be working for The Horsemen. He acts like he's the boss of us and we do exactly what he says. We're out here on his orders, aren't we?"
"That's ridiculous. Why would he come all this way, and go through this much effort to save us if he was just another Reaper? And his guns have helped us and probably will carry on helping us, so I don't care how he got them...And I believe the boat. You'd do everything you could to make that island inaccessible," Asha ranted. "And if you really think that, then why are you even here?"
"Because I have nowhere else to go... and I don't care if I die," Daisy muttered under her breath.
Asha didn't know how to respond to the last comment, but she understood why Daisy would stick around. She had no-one left. The fact that she would rather follow someone who she didn't trust and someone who she thought would lead her to her death meant that she was truly desperate to be around people, at any cost.
"I'm not giving up on this, and if Max is right, and I can be used for a cure, then I'm sure as hell gonna get to that fucking island, with you and everyone else too," Asha said with certain determination.
"I'm not giving up," Daisy grunted, her hands flew to her head before she flung them to her sides angrily. "God! Why am I always the bad guy, huh? Everyone is on my back all the time. I can't deal with it on top of all of this 'Apocalypse Now' shit!" She cried and walked away from Asha.
