by the next morning yuki was standing at the front porch, kicking rocks as she waited for jungwon to arrive. she sighed, looking down at her phone. it had been twenty minutes now.

she heard the front door unlock, turning her head to see the eun-ji walking out onto the porch. her eyes widened as she quickly turned her head back to face the road.

awkward.

she drummed her fingers along the brick wall behind her, looking back on her phone to divert eye contact. once she looked back up, eun-ji was standing right in front of her, holding the hairclip which yuki could've sworn was in her hair five seconds ago when she was looking in the mirror.

"you dropped-"

"thanks." she interrupted her, taking the clip and stuffing it into her pocket. yuki noticed a car pulling in, seeing jungwon's manager in the front seat. she would've sighed in relief if eun-ji wasn't still standing there. she ran over to the car, getting into the backseat where jungwon was and throwing her head back on the head rest in repose.

"you good?" jungwon asked, watching her catch her breath as she buckled her seatbelt. he looked up, seeing eun-ji and then immediately understanding why she was acting like that.

"i'm fine. let's just go."

he nodded, gesturing for his manager to start driving.

yuki looked at the wall, shoving another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth as her mind ran haywire. after a whole six months with no communication shared (out of yuki's pure saltiness), eun-ji had talked to her.

she would be lying if she said she didn't miss her.

eun-ji and her had been friends since literal birth. eun-ji's parents were the first people yuki's own parents met when they moved to korea. eun-ji was born merely a week before yuki was.

so they grew up together, were literally inseparable until they had turned fifteen and eun-ji found out she had been accepted by starship entertainment as a trainee.

yuki never got the chance to see or communicate with eun-ji for three whole months. and then lexha brought up the idea of the two of them, and kirin, auditioning for hybe as a joke. they al laughed it off at first, but then yuki thought about it.

if they auditioned for.

and if they potentially got in.

then maybe, just maybe yuki could see eun-ji again.

and so the next day the three were auditioning for hybe.

yuki still remembered the first time she got to see eun-ji again. it had been a year and a half now since eun-ji had left to train at starship. and six months since she debuted in astrid. two months since spernova's debut.

she was standing outside the backstage bathroom at music bank, waiting for xierra to finish touching up her makeup so they could go to their interview.

and that was when none other than ha eun-ji walked out of the bathroom, stopping in her tracks when she saw yuki standing there.

yuki felt her heart warm as she remembered the smile on her face, the way her eyes lit up and the tight hug she threw around her shoulders as tears of happiness ran down the both of their cheeks.

if only she could make her smile like that again.

"yuki?" jungwon spoke up, snaping her out of her thoughts.

"yeah?"

"your ice cream's melting and it's all over your shirt."

she looked down, seeing the sticky strawberry ice cream drip down her shirt.

"fuck," she sighed, as jungwon took some napkins and wiped it off of her face and clothes. the pink stain still remaining there clear as day. she sighed, zipping up her jacket to cover it up.

"is there something on your mind? you're acting kinda funny."

"it's stupid, don't worry about it."

"babe, no. your worries aren't stupid. tell me what's up."

"it's about eun-ji." she said softly, taking another bite of her melted ice cream.

"i see. she's bothering you?"

"i guess you could say that. but not in the way you think. i think i..-" she said, looking at the ground, "imissher."

"what?"

"i- missher."

"yuki, i can't hear shit."

"I MISS HER."

around the shop, heads turned to stare at her  as she slumped back in her seat, cheeks turning pink from embarrassment. jungwon snickered quietly at her, as yuki elbowed his sides. other customers turned back to whatever they were doing perviously, while she buried her head in his shoulder.

"okay, okay, i'm sorry." he laughed, patting her head gently and picking at the crumbs of waffle cone on the table, "you miss her?"

"yeah." she mumbled, as she watched jungwon stare mindlessly at the table, taking a moment to think. he almost looked hurt, and that only made her feel worse about missing eun-ji again. she had messed up so badly, and put both her and jungwon in terrible states of mind. not even yeona, who literally lived with her had forgiven her.

so why did she miss her?

"it makes sense." he said, smiling softly down at her.

"it does?"

"of course it does. you knew her for your whole life. the whole reason you became an idol was because of her. even if she did do what she did, you were so close with her. it's not easy to let something go when you're so attached to it. so it does make sense why you miss her."

"i didn't think about it that way."

"it's been six months, yuki. if you think you're ready to forgive her now, then do it. i'm not ready myself to move on from what she did myself, but that doesn't mean i have any right to tell you what to do."

"so you won't be... upset?"

"no, of course i won't. now eat your ice cream so we can go to the arcade."
