- Mingi !

- Wait for-

I couldn't hear. I couldn't see. I couldn't see anything except the road leading to the city center. I couldn't hear anything except what my mind was telling me.

And I had to run.

I had left everything on the wooden table near the college park where we were. My fingers had only grabbed my phone on the side. Then I had not listened to anyone.

I was fixed on one point. One person.

Him.

My legs slowed down once I crossed the lobby. Breathless, I nervously approached the counter.

- Hello, is this for ? asked the secretary.

- Um, I'd like to know the room number of a patient.

- Name?

My throat tightened before I could barely get two words out.

- Choi Jongho.

- Wait a moment, her fingers pounded the keys of the keyboard, the noise of which kept on producing a deafening echo in the corner of my head, until it came to pulse my temples.

- Mm...

She started the same song again, and I felt like I was going crazy.

Because time was running out, quickly slow, it was quite abstract.

- Floor 4, room 88.

I lost no minute, no second.
Even the elevator seemed to use its old cables to take me up to the fourth floor.

- Fourth floor, pneumonia and cardiology, doors open.

The nauseating smell of the place suddenly attacked my nose. The smell was much more pronounced than when I entered the building. The melody of the electrocardiograms accompanied me on my way to his room.

Room 88

I made three blows before the door opened on Wooyoung, slightly pencilled dark circles and a too large red sweater.

His lips tightened in a smile that was meant to be reassuring before he stepped aside and I stormed in.

Jongho's eyes widened before his mouth opened.

- Tell me you're okay," I said in horror.

- I'm fine.

I shyly moved closer to the bed, my courage overcome by worry.

- In any other place than this one I would have believed you," I said, grabbing his hand.

- Reassure you it is nothing serious, he retorted in a tired voice.

- The doctors think he can't stand the treatment, that he had an allergic reaction to a component, Wooyoung explained.

I turned my head back to the bed, where his angelic face was now resting with a peaceful look.

- What happened," I said without taking my eyes off his red hair.

His breath hit the heavy silence.

- It was last night, I was about to go to bed when my phone rang and I saw his contact on the screen. I knew something was wrong, so I rushed to his room, he paused for a moment, he said he had a pain in his left lung, he was crying, he said, his eyes staring into space.

He looked up at me.

- As I told you, the doctors think he didn't tolerate a component of the treatment.

- But he's been taking it for over a month, right? I asked confused.

- That's why the trial period is six months, the results are long.

My fingers pinched the bridge of my nose.

- Normally he should be up and about in a few days. They gave him some medication that should ease his pain and the inflammation in his lung. Now he just needs to rest and be monitored.

- When does he get out ?

- Tonight.

I nodded.

- Look who I see there," I said, pointing to the window overlooking the hallway.

- Sanie...," said the blond man with a dull smile before opening the door.

They embraced silently while Yeosang's body slid into the room.

- I brought you your things.

- Thank you.

- How's he doing? he pointed at him with his chin.

- Better than last night I guess, I sighed, his condition is stable, he's going out tonight.

- That's at least good.

- Mm.

His hand settled on my shoulder.

- It's going to be okay," he began, "I think he's going to need you a lot in the next few weeks.

My lips finally broke into a crescent moon.

- Then I'll be there.
