I woke up to the sun shining in through my blinds and the blankets being ripped off of me.

I groaned and rolled over to the other side of my bed, trying my best to hide my face in the pillow I had been sleeping on previously.

"WAKE UP SAM!" I hear Cameron yell. I slowly sat up and Cameron looked upset. "Why are you so grumpy?" I asked while laughing a little and he rolled his eyes. "We have to meet moms new boyfriend." He says with a look of disgust.

I laughed at the face he was making, but then let his words sink in. Since when does mom have a boyfriend? Because this is news to me.

"What boyfriend?" I asked and he huffed. "Just get dressed because we are going out to lunch in an hour." He said and I nodded before standing up fully and dragging myself into the bathroom for a shower.

I took my nice, hot shower which lasted longer then it probably should've, but there is no way in hell I am going to rush to get to somewhere I don't even wanna be.

I brushed my teeth and hair before plugging my curling iron in to heat up. I did my normal makeup routine and curled my before walking into my closet in just a towel.

I dressed casual considering we were just going out to lunch. I put on a white muscle tank that said Los Angeles on it and tucked it into a pair of high waisted shorts that had studs along the right pocket.

I put on my high top, black and white converse before grabbing my phone and walking downstairs.

When I walked down there, I saw a guy who looked around 40 and a boy around my age?

"There she is." My mom said with a smile as I walked down the stairs. "Uh, hi?" I said, not really sure as to what I should say.

"This is Richard and this is his son Jack. Jack is the same age as you, Sam." My mom said and I mumbled a cool because I was extremely uninterested in either of them.

"Don't you think those shorts are a little too short, Samantha? Maybe you should go change." Richard said and I rolled my eyes at the fact that he used my full name.

"You're not my dad so why would I?" I snapped and my mom gave me a warning look. "I'm not changing." I said and he nodded.

"And don't call me Samantha." I said as I sat on the couch.

"Where is your brother?" My mom asked and I shrugged. "Wherever he is, I'm sure it's more enjoyable then this." I said and she shot me another warning look.

"I'll go get him." I mumbled and walked upstairs. "Cam!?" I shouted and I heard a muffled "In here!" Coming from his room.

I walked in and he was standing in his closet in just his boxers. "What are you doing?" I asked while laughing a little and he sighed.

"I don't know what to wear." He shrugged and I nodded before going through his clothes. "Wear this." I said and tossed him a vans shirt, khaki pants and a snapback.

"Thanks Sammy." He smirked and I laughed because he used to always call me that when we were younger.

"Ah, there he is." My mom smiled as me and Cameron walked downstairs. "Yeah...." he trailed off with a dirty look.

"Time for lunch!" Jack shouted and ran out to my moms car. I rolled my eyes and stayed close to Cam.

We got in the car and I was sitting in the middle, meaning I was between Cameron and Jack.

It was a quiet ride with just the faint noise of my mom and Richard talking in the background.

I then felt a hand on my thigh and I turned my head to see it was Jacks and he had a smirk on his face. "Don't touch me." I whispered and moved his hand.

Moments later, I felt it again. But this time, it was higher up. "I said don't touch me!" I yelled and everyone looked at us, including Cameron who didn't looked very happy.

"I didn't do it on purpose, chill out." He mumbled while slouching back in his seat and I rolled my eyes. Cameron stood up while the car was moving and we switched spots.

He sat next to Jack with his jaw clenched and he looked dead at him.

I don't think Jack noticed that Cameron was looking at him because he tried to do that fake yawn and stretch thing with his arm. Key word, tried.

Cameron grabbed his arm, gripping it tightly. Jack looked terrified and I found it hilarious.

"You better keep your sons hands off of my little sister before I do. And if I do, I don't think either of you would like it." Cameron said while looking at Richard.

He jus scoffed. "What are you, 16? You won't be able to do anything." He said and Cameron rolled his eyes.

"Actually I'm 19 and I'm more then capable of doing whatever I please because there is no way in hell you, or anyone else, is going to stop me." He said and Richard stopped talking.

"Yeah, that's what I thought." Cam mumbled and let go of Jacks arm.

I laid my head on his shoulder, attempting to calm him down. I think it worked because he let out a deep breath and looked straight ahead until we arrived at Chipotle.

I stood up from our booth to go to the bathroom and faintly saw Richard get up too.

I ignored it and did my business before walking out, only to see Richard waiting by the door. "Creep." I muttered and he grabbed my arm, making it hurt really bad.

"What did you just say?" He asked through gritted teeth and I rolled my eyes. "I called you a creep because you were waiting by the women's bathroom. That's pretty creepy." I said and yanked my arm away, at least I tried to.

"You better watch the way you talk to me and your mother." He said and I scoffed. "What're you gonna do about it? Ground me? Because you're not my dad and never will be." I said and he rolled his eyes.

"I'll be your father before you know it." He said and I laughed while shaking my head. I got in his face. "In your dreams." I spit in his face and the next thing I felt was his left hand connect with my cheek.

Cameron's POV
"Cam, can you go see what's taking your sister so long?" My mom asked and I nodded before standing up and walking towards the bathrooms.

When I got there, I saw Richard holding onto Sam's arm. She got really close to him and said something I couldn't quite catch. The next thing I saw was him slap her.

"What the fuck!?" I yelled while shoving him against the wall. I punched him repeatedly until a waiter pulled me off of him.

I saw Sam holding her cheek with tears brimming her eyes. "If I ever see you again, I'll kill you." I said to Richard through gritted teeth and walked towards Sam.

She hugged me and we walked towards the table.

"What happened?" Our mom asked and I rolled my eyes. "Your little boy toy over there slapped your daughter." I said and she looked shocked, but said nothing.

"Whatever, I'm taking Sam home." I said and we walked out, into the car driving us home. Looks like they'll have to find their own rides...

"Are you okay?" I asked once we got inside and she sniffled before nodding her head slightly. "I'm so sorry." I said and she shook her head.

"It's not your fault." She said, but I couldn't help but feel guilty whenever I saw the purple hand print on her cheek.

I'm her big brother. I'm supposed to protect her, stand up for her and keep her safe and I didn't do the best job of that today.

I didn't feel like arguing so I just hugged her. "You should go talk to Hayes." I said and she pulled away.

"I don't think so." She sighed. "Come on Sam. You need your bestfriend back. You can't hold this against him forever, can you?" I asked and she stood up.

"Are you coming with me or not?" She said and I smiled before standing up too.
