"Babe, you have to get ready for school." I heard and popped one eye open to see Hayes' face only inches from mine.

I screamed and fell off the bed. I groaned in pain and Hayes was just laughing. I stood up and walked to his bathroom, slamming the door shut, just so he thinks I'm angry.

"Sam, open up." He sighed and knocked on the door. I opened it and he hugged me. "I'm sorry." he mumbled and I laughed. "I'm not actually mad, Hayes." I said and he pulled away.

"Good." He simply replied and pecked my lips. "Get dressed for school. I have some of your clothes in my closet. Unless you would like to go home.." He trailed off and I shook my head immediately.

"She just let him hit me, Hayes. I'm not going back for I while." I said and tears brimmed my eyes.

I can't believe my own mother chose that man over me, her daughter. I mean, I know I'm not technically her real daughter, but that shouldn't change things. Right?

"Do you think it's because I'm not her real daughter?" I quietly said and Hayes hugged me. "No no no. Sam, she loves you. You are her real daughter. You don't need blood to make a family." He said and rubbed his hand up and down my back.

I nodded and pulled away. "I should get ready." I muttered and walked into his closet.

I pulled out my outfit quickly which was shorts, a brown tank top and my Jesus sandals. I did my hair which was just a bun.

I got changed and walked out to see Hayes sitting on his bed. "You look cute." Hayes said and stood up, walking towards me. "Thank you Mr. Grier." I said and kissed him.

"You're not supposed to do that!" Hayes gasped, mocking me. "Fine, I won't anymore." I shrugged and sat on his bed.

"Awe, I was just kidding." He pouted and pulled me onto his lap. "I know." I smirked and spun around to kiss him again.

"Hurry up guys!" I heard Nila yell and me and Hayes both went downstairs.

"The bus is here early, have a good day at school." She said and kissed mine and Hayes' cheeks.

We ran onto the bus and sat in our normal seat. Kendall never got on, so I assumed she wouldn't be at school which really made me sad. I don't remember telling her she was allowed to leave me alone with all these immature people.

"Pay attention to me." Hayes whined and played with my hand. "Gosh, you're so needy." I joked and he stuck out his bottom lip. "I'm just kidding." I said and kissed him.

We eventually got off the bus and went inside the school.

It was the end of the school day and Kendall just now arrived. "Where were you all day!?" I yelled and jumped in her arms. "Long story." She sighed and I gave her a confused look. "Don't worry. It's good." She smiled and I smiled too before linking arms with her.

"You're coming over." I said and she laughed before nodding. "Yes mom." She replied and I laughed. "We have to get Hayes first. He should be in Language Arts." I said and she skipped.

"Then let's go get lover boy." She smirked and I playfully rolled my eyes.

We eventually go to the L.A. class and walked in to see Hayes sitting at his desk with his feet on it and he was leaning back in his chair.

"What are you still doing here? Let's go." I said as I walked towards him and he sighed. "I got detention." He muttered and I laughed. "Again?" I asked and he nodded.

Hayes always gets detention. If he wasn't such a good football player, he would've been kicked off already. "What'd you do this time?" I asked. "Slept in class." He answered with a shrug and I laughed, but was interrupted by the teacher, Mrs. Grudge, walking into the class.

"Benjamin Hayes Grier, get your feet off of that desk. And detention is supposed to be silent." She hissed and he rolled his eyes before he took his feet down and his seat landed on the ground as well.

"You aren't my mother so don't call me by my full name." He said and she shot him a warning look. "I can call you whatever you want. Now unless you want to be in here even longer, I suggest you keep your mouth shut." She said and Hayes laughed.

"Thanks for the suggestion, but I'd rather not." He said and fake smiled. "Hayes." I hissed at him and he rolled his eyes before keeping his mouth shut. I know how much Hayes loves football, and if he ever did get kicked off for acting the way he does in school, he would be devastated.

I decided I would talk to Mrs. Grudge considering she loves me. "Hi Mrs. Grudge." I smiled and she smiled too. "Why hello Samantha. What brings you here?" She asked and I shrugged.

"I was actually here for Hayes." I said and she sighed. "He's getting worse, Ms. Dallas. You need to help whip him into shape." She laughed and I laughed too, even though it wasn't that funny.

"Of course." I said and she smiled. "Do you think you could let him go a little early? We have a family dinner that we can't miss for anything." I lied and she sighed. "I guess that would be okay. But you better get him acting respectful or it'll be me teaching him a lesson." She laughed and I smiled.

"Don't worry. I got it covered." I said and she smiled. "Alright, go get him." She said and I walked over to Hayes.

"Let's go." I said and he smiled. "Thanks Sam." He said and gathered his things. When he stood up, he kissed my cheek and all three of us walked out together.

"Now tell me why you weren't at school young lady." I demanded as me and Kendall were sitting on my bed.

"Igotsignedtoarecordlabel." She said really fast, and although I kind of knew what she said, I wanted to be positive. "What?" I asked while laughed and she took a deep breath.

"I got signed to a record label!" She yelled and she had the biggest smile on her face. I screamed and tackled her into a hug.

"That's great!" I mumbled against her and her smile fell slightly. "Yeah." She said and her smile faltered.

"What's wrong Kenn?" I asked and she sighed before running her hand through her hair. "It's all the way in New York." She said and my smile fell as well.

"For how long?" I asked her and she shrugged. "About a year." She said and I felt tears brim my eyes. "When do you leave?" I asked her. "In a month." She said and a single tear fell before I wiped the rest that were threatening to fall away.

"Im happy for you." I said and gave her a fake smile. I actually was happy for her, I was just really going to miss her. "Thanks." She said quietly and I hugged her. "I really am." I said and she hugged me back.

"I'll miss you." She mumbled and I shook my head. "We have a month and only a week of it is at school. We can still have a fun time." I smiled and she smiled too.

Our moment got interrupted by a text from Hayes. It said we needed to talk about something. I told him to come over and within seconds, he was here.

"What is it?" I asked and he took a seat on my bed. "I got a scholarship to a really good high school for football." He said and I smiled. "That's amazing!" I said and hugged him. When he didn't hug back, I pulled away.

"What's wrong?" I asked and it felt very familiar to mine and Kendall's conversation that happened only minutes earlier. "The high school is in Nevada. It's not that far, but it's a great opportunity." He quickly said and I plopped onto my bed with tears in my eyes again.

"Both of my bestfriends are leaving?" I quietly asked to no one in particular. "Both?" Hayes asked and Kendall told him everything.

"Well I still have all of summer." He said, trying to brighten the mood but it didn't help very much.

"I don't want to waste another second, and I know we promised to just stay friends for a while. But will you be my girlfriend?"
He asked me and I looked up at him with a smile. "Of course." I said and hugged him.

It wasn't any fancy way of asking me, but I don't care. I still have a month with my two favorite people and another month after that with just one and I am going to live every second of it to the fullest.
