In the year of 1899, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went through their last adventure against Professor James Moriarty, Sherlock Holme's nemesis. There was a murder in a house that occurred the night before. A police officer inspected the body and tried to figure out how he died. "What do you think it is?" His partner asked as he walked up to him. "I'm not sure, but I know someone who can figure this out." The man said with a serious tone in his voice.
"Holmes, we have another call." Sherlock Holme's assistant, Dr. Watson said as he entered the office of Sherlock Holmes. "A month before my retirement, a few more investigations couldn't hurt anyone." Sherlock said as he got up from his seat. "Who are we facing this time?" Holmes asked as he and Watson walked out to their vehicle. "The police aren't sure, there is no way of telling how the victim died." Watson said as they got into the vehicle. "We'll see about that, my friend."
The two got to the scene and greeted the police officers. "Holmes, thank goodness you're here, we can't figure out what happened with this man and how he was murdered." The officer said
as he backed away to have them inspect the body. "It looks like blood trauma to the head. The culprit must have filled in his footsteps after he made the murder." Holmes said as he closed the eyes of the body. "But who is this, and why would the culprit do something like this?" The officer asked in a confused manner. "That's what I intend to find out." Sherlock said as he got up.
Sherlock and Watson looked around to find any evidence for them to look at. They look and find something under the furniture. "There appears to be a hole underneath, possibly leading to the basement." Sherlock said as he looked through the hole.
When they got to the basement, they saw that a crime scene could be made up if they collect enough evidence. "I see that the intruder broke through the glass, exactly like how Daniel Fecter broke through the window when we went up against him." Holmes said as he looked at the window, then looked around more to find anything else. "Holmes, I spotted a card on the wall." Watson said as he picked the card off the wall. "It says Storage Warehouse, Blackheath." Watson said as he looked at the card and gave it to Holmes. "Maybe that should be the next location we go to, but first we have to make the crime scene before we do anything." Sherlock said as he gave the card back to Watson. They looked around, but couldn't find anymore evidence. "I guess we don't have enough evidence to set up a crime scene." Sherlock said as the two left the basement.
They went into the warehouse and looked around for anything that would help them catch the criminal. They looked in every storage box to find anything. "We should split up, it will be the only way to find any evidence faster." Sherlock said as he walked down the back corner. Sherlock looked through every box and every shelf, but didn't find anything. He called to Watson, but there was no answer. He started to worry and decided to look around. As Sherlock looked around, someone hit his head and knocked him out.
Sherlock awakened and saw Watson tied up with him. "Good to have you back, I think it's time to meet our capture." Watson said in a joking manner as a silhouette of a man started walking towards them. "Well, well, well, if it isn't my nemesis Sherlock Holmes." "Professor Moriarty, long time no see. What do you want with me and my partner?" Sherlock asked as he tried to get out of the chair.
"I only want you, just you. This is payback for thinking you're better than me." The Professor said as he walked up to Holmes. "What do you want with me?" "I challenge you to a contest. There will be a challenge of wits, strength, and skill." "That sounds dandy, let's just hurry up and get this over with." Sherlock said in an annoyed manner.
"Of course you would want to be quick about this so you can catch the murderer." Moriarty said in a joking tone. "You're the murderer, I could tell that you were smart enough to cover all of your tracks. You left the note so we can have this little contest of ours." Sherlock said as Moriarty started to untie him. "You figure me out, but that wasn't the challenge, I was just trying to make sure I didn't give you brain damage when I knocked you out."
Moriarty started setting up the challenge of wits to begin the contest. "Each of us will set up a challenge that will test our knowledge. Since I was the one that set this challenge up, I will go first and give you a challenge. Who was the first czar in Russia, and how did he die?" "The first czar was Ivan the Fourth, he died while playing chess of a stroke." Sherlock said with no hesitation. "Good work Holmes, but that was an easy one. Second question, who wrote the Raven ?"
"Edgar Allan Poe, the poet." Sherlock said with triumph in his voice. "Alright, this is the last question. What was another name for Moses in the Bible?" "The second Jesus, because he performed all of these miraculous events, and he saved his people from Pharaoh like how Jesus saved us from our sins." Sherlock answered once more with no hesitation.
"Now it is your turn to ask me three questions." Moriarty said as he prepared himself to answer the questions. "When was the National Anthem written, and who wrote it?" Sherlock asked with a grin on his face. "An American question, alright then, it was the year of 1814, during the War of 1812, and the person who wrote it was Francis Scott Key, when Great Britain attacked the White House." The Professor said with confidence. "When did William Shakespeare write the play, Romeo and Juliet?" Sherlock asked as he thought about another question to come up with. "It was between 1591 and 1596, because it was in 1595 when it came out." "Good work, now this is the last question. What started the Boston Massacre?" Sherlock asked, thinking Moriarty wouldn't be able to get the question correct.
"It started because the colonists threw snow at them." "Wrong, the soldiers did it for no reason, which is what lead the massacre to happen in the first place." Sherlock said with a joyful tone of voice. "I guess you are correct. You won the challenge of wits, but that was only the first challenge. The next challenge is the contest of strength." "What is the contest of strength?" Sherlock asked.
"We will lift the storage containers that hold heavy tools. I was lucky enough to buy the warehouse for these little challenges we are doing." The Professor said in a smug voice. "We will start easy for your sake." "What happens if I win this challenge?" Sherlock asked as he stretched. "You and Watson can be set free and I will be put into custody." "And if you win?" "It will prove that I am your better, rather than your equal." The Professor said with a grin on his face. "Alright, let's begin." Sherlock said as he took off his coat.
The two started lifting their storage containers around with all of their strength. "What's the matter Holmes, is it a trouble for you to lift all of this weight?" The Professor asked in a sarcastic tone. "No, I am just getting started." Sherlock said as he was lifting the container. After a few minutes, they set the containers down and moved on to something heavier for them to lift.
"We will now lift storage containers that hold heavy weapons for the British Military." "But, those are for the Marines. This warehouse holds the Military's weapons?" Sherlock asked in a surprised manner. "I bought them so we can have this contest, but I also want to use them for my own purposes." The Professor said as he rubbed his hands. "Once I beat you, I will put all give these weapons back to the Marines where they belong." Sherlock said in an angered voice.
The challenge started and they lifted the containers. Sherlock was having trouble with lifting all of those weapons, but Moriarty had no troubles lifting the containers. Sherlock thought to himself that obviously the Professor had been in shape to lift something as heavy as this, but I definitely wasn't ready to pick up something as heavy as this. As the time went on, Sherlock dropped the container, while Moriarty set the container down slightly. "If you think that I cheated you can lift my container for yourself."
The Professor said as he picked both of the containers back up at a time. But Sherlock knew he wasn't cheating, the man was many things, but definitely not a liar. "I also realize that you didn't as any mathematical questions during our last challenge. That was clever since you know how good of a mathematician I am. But that is not important, we will now lift more containers for this next challenge, but these will be heavier." Sherlock thought nothing about, he only thought about winning the next contest, because he knew he wasn't stronger than Moriarty.
Sherlock realized the Professor had time in prison to become smarter and stronger. They both started to lift their containers to begin the contest. Both of them started to have trouble, but Sherlock and Moriarty would try their best to lift the containers. Sherlock would drop his first and then the Professor would drop his. "It seems that I have won this contest, but there is still one more for the tiebreaker. And that is the contest of skill." "Skills like what?" "Solving scientific equations, mathematical equations, and fencing." The Professor answered.
"Let's start with the mathematical equations that I have written on a few notes that will be hard for even me to figure out. And your dear old assistant, Watson will be the one to read the notes." "I finally get to do something, I am tired of being stuck in this chair." Watson said in a joking manner. Watson read the question about the Pythagorean Theorem. The Professor and Holmes thought, but Moriarty answered the question first. Watson asked the next question which was easy for both Sherlock and Moriarty to answer correctly. Watson asked more questions which Sherlock and Moriarty all answered correctly. But Watson asked the last question which Moriarty answered it without taking a second.
The Professor had won the first challenge, but the next challenge was science questions. Sherlock and Moriarty answered all of them correctly all the same, but Sherlock came out as
the victor. It was now the final contest, and that contest was fencing, which both were excellent at. They got their sabres and put themselves in the fencing position. Moriarty started to make the first attack with Sherlock getting on the defensive.
Holmes was able to get a hit with his sword which gave Holmes the advantage of offense on him. It looked like Holmes was winning, but the Professor got the upper hand and started to swing his sword at Holmes which caused him to step back. The battle was elegant and a sight to be seen with Holmes and the Professor being equals in fencing.
But Sherlock was losing the contest with Moriarty using offensive skills that Sherlock never learned on how to defend himself. The Professor seemed to have determination in his eyes as he and Holmes were fighting. Watson was watching and he was concerned that Holmes was going to loose, but the fight continued.
Holmes got back in the fight and started to use technique against the Professor. He stayed on the defensive and made the Professor think he was going to win, but he had his guard down and Holmes started to get on the offensive. Putting all of his force in each thrust, Holmes put Moriarty in a corner and took multiple hits off him.
Sherlock backed away from the Professor because it wasn't honorable to him to beat the Professor in a corner. "You win, this contest showed not only your skills, but the fact that you're the better man." Moriarty said as he set his weapon down. "That means you will turn yourself in?" Sherlock asked as he walked over to Watson.
"No, for the World's Greatest Detective, you seem to have not realized that the person that I killed was charged with manslaughter, I wanted to change my ways, so I will live in a different location out of this country." The Professor said as he started to walk away.
"Wait, Moriarty, I must turn you in, I still don't trust you." Sherlock said after he untied Watson. "You don't have to trust me, I will be out of your way and you will be out of my way." Moriarty said. "Do you think that's the last we'll see if him, Holmes?" Watson asked as he got out of his chair. "I am unsure, but all we know is, he can't be trusted." Sherlock said as he looked at the direction where the Professor left. Business became usual the next day with another crime that happened, but there has never been an investigation that Holmes has never solved, and there never will be.
