The sun started to peek through the windows of her bedroom as Kate woke up, Eddie's arms wrapped around her. His long hair was in his face and Kate felt her heart melt. As she started to get out of bed, his arm pulled her back.
"Don't get up," he groaned.
"We can't just lie here all day Eddie," she replied. The walkie talkie started making noise from Kate's bag.
"Eddie, Eddie," Dustin shouted. He got out of bed and threw his boxers on and grabbed it from the bag.
"I'm here Dustin. What's up?"
"We need you to meet us back at Reefer Rick's house. We're on our way to pick you up," Dustin said.
"10-4." He set the walkie talkie on the bed.
"Is going back there such a good idea?" Kate asked. Eddie walked over to her and sat on the bed.
"It'll be ok, sweetheart," his hand caressing her face as he leaned in and kissed her. Kate got lost in Eddie and wanted to pull him back to bed, but knew the gang would be getting to her house soon.
"Guess I need to get dressed," Kate joked.
"I guess we need to. I love you princess," Eddie said, kissing her forehead once more.
"I love you too Eddie."
A while later, the gang arrived at Kate's house. As Kate and Eddie got into Nancy Wheeler's station wagon, Steve and Robin smirked at each other.
"What?" Kate asked.
"Nothing," Robin answered, not wanting to say anything around Dustin, Max and Lucas. Kate sat in the front with Nancy and Robin while Eddie sat in the back with Steve. Dustin, Max and Lucas sat in the middle seat.
As everyone made small talk up front, Steve nudged Eddie and looked over at Kate. "You and Wallace?"
Eddie tried to play it off. "What are you talking about?"
"Please, I see the way you look at her. I know you couldn't have spent the night at her house and not hooked up." Eddie shrugged his shoulders.
They pulled up to Reefer Rick's house and got out of the car. "What's the plan?" Kate asked.
"Something weird happened when we were out here last. Not sure if it was the lake or not, but I wanted to check it out," Dustin said. They walked over to the shore line as the sun began setting.
"I have a weird feeling," Max said. She had told her friends she had started hearing a clock chime and seeing it randomly, especially when they broke into the school last night. They heard a car pull up and they all ducked down.
"Who is that?" Robin asked. Kate walked over to the window.
"Shit, it's Jason and his friends," Kate started.
"Damn it," Dustin answered.
"You guys get out of here. I'll try to distract them," Kate said.
"Wait, you can't...," Robin started.
"Go," Kate yelled. Everyone started out the side door, ducking and running, but Eddie stopped. "Eddie, you have to go, they'll kill you if they find you."
"Kate...," he started.
"Go, Eddie. I can't let them hurt you." Eddie walked over to her and swiftly kissed her.
"I love you, Wallace," he said.
"I love you Eddie. Go." Kate watched out the window as she saw Jason and his cronies ransack the house and then they made their way to the boat house. She ducked down behind the boat as Jason kicked open the door.
"Hey freak, we know you're in here," he bellowed. Kate saw they all had weapons and now she was freaking out.
"We know you killed Chrissy," another one of his friends said. Kate couldn't take this jackass anymore. He had been an ass to Chrissy and now he was witch-hunting the man Kate loved. She jumped up. Here goes nothing.
"Fuck you Jason," Kate yelled, an ore in her hand.
"Kate? What are you doing here?"
"Doing the right thing," she started. She took the ore and swung it at Jason, hitting him as he fell to the ground.
His friends ran to his aid as Kate jumped in the boat and quickly started it. She thought she was home free until she saw Jason and his friend Patrick, swimming after her.
"Get back here Kate," she heard Jason yell. The boat stopped so Kate grabbed pre and began to paddle. Jason had caught up to her when Patrick went under water and then flew back up in the air. His bones began to break and soon his neck was broken and he fell back into the water, knocking Kate out of the boat. She quickly clambered back to the boat and paddled away before Jason could get her again.
"Eddie, are you ok?" Nancy asked. The group had gotten away thanks to Kate's bravery, but Eddie seemed on edge.
"Do you think she'll be ok?" He asked, his voice shaking.
"Kate?" Robin asked. Nancy, Steve and Robin pulled Eddie aside from the kids.
"Yeah. We left her there and that dude is an asshole."
"But she's the only one who could distract that asshole for us to get away," Steve said.
Eddie sat down defeated. "I promised I wouldn't let anything happen to her."
"Wait, why?" Steve asked.
"He loves her," Robin stated. "It's been written all over his face since she showed up at the boathouse with us."
"Is that true?" Nancy asked.
"Yeah, it is," Eddie replied. "I watched her from afar for so long until the night you left us at the boathouse. She told me she had the same feelings for me. Once those words were said, I swore there was no more running away for me. I had to protect her and keep her safe."
Nancy put her hand on his shoulder. "She'll be fine, Eddie."
